Invaders are experimenting w/new idea to put schedule on post heading-let me know if you like this idea...

Here's this. One of you geniuses should put it on a separate post. We have to decide whether just to rotate through this until the end of the regular season or reverse it at some point to create the always-scintillating back-to-backs, which I kind of like. Maybe we can vote at the time of the first supplemental. Carry on.

Ticket says about sked:
There are 17 Mon-Thur. match periods and 15 Fri-Sun. (All * & 1st playoff weekend account for that.)So we don't need to triple up one week in order for everyone to play each opponent in the fbl three times. Should a tie occur in the playoffs, we could triple up in a week of matches then. Creative reversal of regular season sked not my cup of tea but someone with hotter air than mine has final say.

I like the schedule header (a lot).
The mixing of the schedule makes no difference to me. I guess you could turn it upside down once.

If we need an insurance match period for the playoffs in the event of a tie, I suggest we build it into the regular season, not wait for the middle of the playoffs.

Mark?

And maybe we should just rotate the nine-match schedule through the end of the regular season, lest we hear a lot of conspiracy theories regarding back-to-backs. The King of Hot Air gets the last say.

Invaders say-Ok as I understand this from Tom there are 32 potential match periods for a 27 game slate-seemingly leaving leaving 5 for potential playoffs but in reality the number is 4 as the first match just played is Sunday-Thursday and the the season ends on Wednesday or Thursday I would guess-hence the 17-15 disparity-is this correct?(and/or what about all-star break?is that the reason for the 17-15 split?)whatever the reason then the 4 match periods left would not suffice for 2 best of 3 playoff tilts-how do we adjust part of the regular schedule to compensate as Eric suggests??I agree w/Dave the mixing of schedule isn't a big deal but it does appear we need at least 2 3 match weeks to facilitate the possibility of a full 6 playoff matches-I don't know that you'd want to push these into the playoffs so I'd prefer to find a couple of heavy back to backs loaded together when we could get at least 2 or 3 potential 3 match periods-ironically this first match period would've been good for that since it was Sunday through Thursday but we're all still in pre-season form due to the lockout not to mention distracted by holiday pursuits

E Team says:

There ya go. We either identify a couple three-match weeks during the regular season, which is kind of a pain in the ass for everyone, or simply cut the season back to 25 matches. I don't think it matters that teams wouldn't play three matches against all opponents. The league is balanced. Who cares? If someone gets to miss a higher performing opponent once or load up on a weakling with three matches, that's just luck of the draw. I vote we just go with 25.

Match #2 vs. ETeam
1-T.Parker
2-Manu
3-Deng
4-Griffin
5-Amare
Util-Felton

Notes: Lots of locker room drama. Parker reached up and grabbed the starting Pt. guard spot and Felton could drop out of the rotation all together if Augustin keeps hitting. When Pierce returns-this could get interesting...

BDLK The Kingpin said...

PG Rondo
SG Iguodala
SF Melo
PF Love
C Cousins
Util Stuckey

We obviously knew Bynum was out and figured we'd get first six eligible. And that's what it looked like. So, we kept lineup same for Match 2. Now it seems as our lineup is being switched. I don't think we should suffer this round because we were under the assumption our Match 1 lineup was fine, and therefore, did not change...

E Team says:

Doesn't Match 2 start tomorrow (Friday) night? I thought it was Mon-Thurs and Fri-Sun. If so, the Germans have plenty of time to sub out their Bynum.

As for Match 1, I don't consider anything obvious when it comes to submitting lineups. You want your lineup to be obvious, post it. You clowns were lucky to get a win. Man up and learn from your mistakes.

Mark sent this out. The match period only started on Sunday because of the Christmas Day games.

Mon-Thurs, Fri-Sun. Right?

Hoop Social said...

Invaders say sorry for any confusion to the Wingos-all match periods are either Mon-Thurs. or Fri-Sun. the lone exception is the opening sun-thurs match...this brings up a good point that Dave mentioned to me and that is that w/3 new teams in the league it would be highly confusing to vary from the traditional pattern of 2 matches per week M-TH and F-SU.Hence I endorse the E proposal that there be only 25 regular season games... this season-it also appears there won't be any early or late calls w/the new compact 66 game grinding schedule-another possibly confusing concept to our new participants

Hoop Social said...

Invaders(in commish mode) addressing another point-how do we reconcile the recalcitrant German troop deployments? To be or not to be Bynum? that is the question

Hoop Social said...

Invaders sub Jarret Jack for Monta who's out vs. Sixers tonight

WTF???? Week one and already chaos! Or should I say KAOS.....So week 1 is Sun-Thurs and Fri-Sun??? Gawd... Just let us have our original lineup this wk and we'll go from here. If I knew this was the only week of the season that was Fri-Sun I would have made change instead of informing you yesterday of the issue.

Enough! Going now to watch this week's edition of Germany's Most Disturbing Home Videos. Followed by the hit Kraut sitcom Who Are You to Accuse Me of That?

I'm confused. Not trying to get over just don't have a grip on the rules. I seriously thought we had to have our lineup in yesterday which is why I posted then. The Holiday Season has me out of whack. Our intent was to play that original lineup both Match 1 and 2. Is that cool? I think there needs to be a little leeway this first week as we all get our bearings. Intent. It's about intent. And as the fair-minded rulers you are, I'm sure you will arrive at a just solution.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders are open-minded in commish role but since this is only my 4th year and you guys have been playing w/this "must post lineup" concept for 15+years it's harder for me to fight established law of precedent-I believe Germans are flying low below radar again this match as Kontrol doesn't look to do all that well based on early returns I'm getting-you may in fact be first team in league history to be 2-0 w/consecutive DNPs-I will leave it to the council of veterans (Dave/Tom/Sean/Eric)to advise me in this matter-West had 27 in Bynum spot tonight

E Team says:

Unbelievable. The Germans post repeatedly but don't make clear whether they mean to replace their jailbird Bynum and with whom.

Classic stuff.

Mark, you made the right ruling on Match 1. Look, the Germans failed to post a lineup for Match 1 and thus were assigned the first six drafted players that would constitute a legitimate squad. That is strictly a rules-driven decision based on player positions, not whether anyone is suspended or injured or anything else. Any lineup decision involving a player's availability is the P4s' responsibility.

Whether Bynum is still in their lineup for Match 2 should be fairly clear, too. If you interpret any of their recent posts as clearly indicating their intention to remove Bynum from their lineup - and that would probably require a specific mention of the player they intended to replace him with - then go ahead and credit them with the switch. If not, they still have Bynum going.

They can talk all around the thing, which is what they appear to have done, but at some point they have to make the change official. Nobody else is authorized to speculate about their intentions or what they could or should do. They need to say: this guy is out and this guy is in, or no change takes place.
