Not that anyone would listen to me after my idiotic bullying about tardy acceptance of the second chance rule only in the same match period. The other solution for DNP-CD problem is the opposite to the wrong minded shortening of the season. Split season.

The Red haters in '81, since the best record overall Reds failed to make the playoffs in a split season during the strike, advanced the notion that late surging teams like the '12-13 Wiz deserve a playoff appearance more than the Rondo-less Celtics.

Potentially eight teams could reach the playoffs! It would push us to the very end of the regular season NBA sked and force more serious fantasy coaches to partake in the final supplemental draft before three rounds of playoffs begin.

Called the commish to discuss this but was ignored again...like a second chance rule mention around the time of Hurricane Sandy and like a phone chat about our show down.

For the record I apologized on the Bat line voice mail to the commish today for being an idiot about the second chance rule and the fantasy playoff picture. Also about excessive whining. It won't go over as well as the idiot lover '04 Red Sox blanket his son enjoys thanks to me. No more idiot love. Say la vie.

No action tomorrow. A sign of things to come. I wave farewell from a paddle board on a lake or on a bike in traffic free Prospect Park.

Hibbert
A Davis

Let's see some good scores.

Good luck to both!

E Team says:

I quite agree, X. The E Team faltered badly in Match 2, scoring under 180 for the first time in 14 matches. Not to take anything from Ticket, whose 219 might've withstood a much better effort.

So it comes down to one match for all the glory: The E Team, which sat at 16-16 before winning 10 of its next 11, versus the resilient Ticket, a team that finished behind all but one opponent in scoring average.

Here goes.

Tom -Invaders believe split season is a marketing gimmick used to create extra revenue for playoff games for teams that otherwise would be out of consideration. It's been used historically in minor league baseball to juice the gate receipts and that's why it was seen as a solution for major league baseball after the '81 lockout/strike ended.I remember Carney Lansford (who owns a big ranch in Baker in eastern Oregon but grew up in Santa Clara)won a tainted batting title that year playing for the Red Sox-I strongly favor a shortened season I'm in a championship final in ESPN this week where half my star players may sit by the weekend.I think it's ridiculous to play in those conditions...but more importantly good luck to both Tom and Eric and as Mills Lane used to sat "Let's get it on !:

I agree Mark...We need to push to have all of those (football, basketball) ESPN leagues end earlier. Nothing worse than a championship team comprised of scrubs.

Here's to two scores above 200 in this match.

Let's shake hands and come out fighting!

E Team says:

I suppose the good news for fans everywhere is who's not playing in the E Team-Ticket final.

Garbage time is underway in Brooklyn and E Team's Hawes is on the pine with 13. His Kemba is struggling to break into double figures in fp's at Memphis.

Neither of those guys is active.

Likewise, Ticket's Demar and Amir are putting up mild numbers against the Bulls, but are not in his lineup.

E Team says:

Ticket's Hibbert looks to be done against Cleveland with 18 fp's. Then again, it looks like the shitheaded Monta Ellis will give the E Team his second straight sub-20 game in Miami. That's with Wade out.

More disturbing for the E Team is the shameless pigfest in New York, where the stat-grubbing hogs Melo and Wall are still out there chucking it up with the game well of reach.

Nice.

E Team said...

E Team says:

I take that back about Kemba. He's now bringing his team back on the road against Memphis and making the E Team rue - once again - pinning his fortunes on the pea-brained Monta.

When will I ever learn?

Yuck.

The shortened season spells doom earlier for cellar dwellers.

Mark, I had my Shaq,Twan,AK47 out for the finals against P4 in our first match up for the title. I know this sounds typical from a paranoiac who's father gets fined for cooking odors from his coop, no one gave a damn about shortening the season until now.

Hoop Social said...

Tom-there's clearly more of a move to rest the regulars now than there was in the past as Invaders see it.Also why not have a balanced schedule of 36 games(9x4) in a ten team league or 35 games(7x5)in a 8 team league. You can't worry about the cellar you need the integrity of the competition by all the stars playing full minutes each night.Look at the team Atlanta put on the floor the night your Josh went out as did Horford.Jenkins leading scorer and Petro went for 14 and 15!!Do we pick up Evan Fournier as he closes the season as the Nuggets leading scorer?

Tix says
So do we cancel the week leading up to the all-star game for all the been there done thats who sit out elected seats?

A reminder: my 300 for nought in a match against E-Team because it involved second chance plays when none were required. Put those situations into play when all twelve entries play twice during a match period and you can cut the length of weeks in a 40 match season. Tradi-Shawn-tradition!

P.S. When I kept the official scores the year of the P4 Ticket finals, so much disgust was directed at me you'd be surprised no one thought of shortening the season. Mark has that problem licked, so the better reason for a shortened season seems irrelevant.

E Team says:

I figure the rookie ADave to be the possible weak link for Ticket, but he handily outplays the horseshit DHow.
Only my ancient Pau keeps me within shouting distance.

I've got Ticket looking tough to beat at 137-115.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders see official score is 137-115 Ticket w/a 22 point lead-Eric has Pierce and Duncan vs. Tom's CP3 and Josh Smith

E Team said...

E Team says:

Going in, it looked like the E Team's hopes rode on Pierce outplaying Josh Smith and cutting into Ticket's 22-point lead.

But Bowel Smoovement, possibly the E Team's least favorite NBA player, takes the night off against San Antonio so that he can pig out against the lowly Sixers. He's blowing up, much as he did in an embarrassing home loss to the same Philly team last week.

His counterpart, Thad Young, has 26 points early in the second half and Smith has 0 fouls. Play much defense?

Ick.

Looks like Ticket is in the driver's seat.

E Team says:

Wow. In the 45th match of the season, Ticket comes within one fp of a quintuple-40. I guess his guys were just pacing themselves.

When your opponent goes 219 and 226 facing elimination, you gotta tip your hat.

Fantastic season.

Jeff, Hans, Sean, Chris, Ryan: Let me know what works for you guys as far as getting together for a beer. Fridays - including this Friday - are good for me.

I'll make arrangements with the out-of-towners as promptly as possible.

Well done, fellas.

Ticket says
In light of the result of match 39 E-Team victory over Mr. B that would have eliminated the new champ, E-Team is a better man than me. The ring leader and the former champ deserved better than the first double elimination victims. Perhaps a shortened season will put an end to "the horror." Note that Wingo's win over Ticket in match 37 would have been the new champ's downfall had it not been for E-Team. The Invaders out-scored the new champ. That sums it up, the best season in a l7 league season. The only improvement will be my new self censure-ship plan. If you're ever around 30 Rock or the Empire State building, look for me outside selling tickets to the viewing stages. I'm still showing 5-7 year olds how to play baseball.

Congratulations to BTix!!!

As I wasn't watching the scores, I loved reading the play by play. Even though E's team didn't show up there is no feeling bad when Tom posted a great score.

For the record I am in favor of a shortened season.

Lots of fun guys. Congrats champ.
Fridays are pretty busy for me but can make a league beer work.
Maybe we can figure it out via email?
