How would all Jerry West's 3 pointers, had the long ball been desired, have compared to...
Stephen Curry became the fastest player to 1,000 3-pointers in last night’s win over the Pacers, finishing with 21 points to go with four triples, three rebounds, a season-high tying 15 assists and four steals.  He wasn’t even the story of this game – Klay Thompson was – but the fact he got to 1,000 a whopping 88 games faster than the next guy (Dennis Scott) is pretty mind-blowing.

It's impossible to calculate how many 3 pointers West would've had but research at Purdue university was done concerning Rick Mount the great shooter of the 60's and early 70's.He scored 61 points in a Big ten game in 1970.By going over game film it was determined that he would've had 13 3 pointers so he was scoring 74 that night. The official school record stands at 8 for one game.Who scored the first 3 pointer in ABA history? hint it's an Oregon and bay area connection.

Oregon to bay, besides Gary Payton and Brent Barry? Dunno.

How about George Gervin starting his career with fellow Virginia Squire Dr. J?

Greg Ballard comes to mind. Too late. In '78, he,Unseld,Hayes, and Dandridge took down the Sonics with Webster,Sikma,Silas and John Johnson in the front court. Shelton replaced Webster as compensation for NY signing Webster as a "free agent." I believe Silas wore three different uniforms in the Finals for the '74 Celtics and '76 Suns.

answer Steve Jones-he hit it in early November 1967 when the Oakland Oaks(later Washington Caps and finally Virginia Squires) played the Anaheim Amigos(later LA Stars and 1971 champ Utah Stars)in the first ever ABA game. The short lived ABL was the first pro league to have 3 pointers for 1961-62 I don't know who hit that first one but Connie Hawkins age 19-20(kicked out of college ball in a gambling scandal) led the league in scoring

I was a huge fan of Snapper Jones for his call in broadcasts. Really a fanatic then, and a goofball. Jones always treated his callers well. Had basketball cards of him, Rich Jones and Collis Jones on the first Spurs team after the Dallas Chappatelles moved. That may or may not have been because the Rockets moved from San Diego. The Stars w e r e Amigos? Willie Wise, Ron Boone, Zelmo all on Utah or was there an all ABA guard by the last name of Jones?

James Jones 6-4 Grambling New Orleans Buccaneers then Utah Stars.Move to San Antonio from Dallas was so the team could draw better in a town with no other sports like Portland in the NBA.In 1971 Utah Stars drew SRO crowd of 16.5k against Gilmore in Issel's Kentucky Colonels for game 7 championship final problem was with these small markets it was hard to get a good tv contract in the days before cable.
