Oh, okay. Monta, determined to improve on his 8-point outing in Game 1, pours in 10 in Game 2 and gives me an 18.
You know who else had 18 in that game? Somebody named Steve Novak who comes off the Spurs' bench. Some big, white stiff who played 18 minutes. Steve Novak. He had the same fantasy output as Ellis.
If I manage to survive this thing, I'm going to pull the little pea-brained dipshit out of my lineup and never go near him again.
118-102 Nitecaps over Eteam w/2 players left to go for each team..it's up to LBJ to make up the 16 point deficit...that's what your top pick has to do...Lowry has been playing well of late but Westbrook and Martin can go off at any time..
So I'm at the Garden, watching my LaMarcus destroy everything in front of him and put up 28 fp's by halftime. If only the Wizards can stay in the game, I'm thinking, maybe Aldridge can take out Dave's 47-point advantage himself, leaving LBJ and Lowry to go head-to-head with Westbrook and that dainty homo Kevin Martin.
Alas, Gerald Wallace turns the game into a one-sided track meet and Aldridge goes to the pine late in the third, having added three fantasy points to his first-half total.
So yeah, Mark's got it right. I don't really expect significantly different outputs from Lowry and Martin, who seem to be providing most of Houston's offense lately. I'd say the bigger questions are: Can the Pistons stay with the Heat long enough for LBJ to put up a game-changing number? And what kind of night can Westbrook be expected to have against whoever backs up the effeminate Devin Harris, since he's apparently injured.
I'd have to say Dave's got the edge, but hey, you have to play the game.
Invaders would like to state that Novak is a 6-9 white stiff from Marquette who does a slower imitation of what Matt Bonner does...catch and shoot tall slow white guy ...now they have 2 of them..Novak sat w/Mavs and Clippers before this...speaking of slow white guys reminds me of the joke during the OJ mess in the mid 90's-what do OJ and John Elway have in common?-OJ made his getaway in a slow white bronco-Elway is a slow white Bronco..speaking of OJ Eric if you remember you said my ex-girlfriend looked like Nicole Brown Simpson when I showed you a picture-well she got her 4th DUI/wet reckless and lost her license..just avoided jail time..
Also Invaders thanks Eric for heads up on Devin injury-His backup is former UCLA guard Earl Watson a new member of the Mexican national basketball team due to having a Mexican mother..I just picked him up for Thursday in the yahoo league
Yeah, Dave, that may be a blowout you're smelling, but it's not just in Oklahoma City. Tell me, when was the last time Kevin Durant got to halftime of a game having taken two shots? TWO SHOTS. That's kinda looking like Russell Westbrook Night there.
Or how about this one? Deep in the second period, against one of the least defensive-minded teams in the league, Kyle Lowry, who's coming off his first career triple double, has one point.
One point.
Uh, I think the blowout may be in our league, not the real one.
Dave, please. You're either delusional or disingenuous. My losing two straight at this point is anything but shocking.
I've been the first to point out that the E Team has been anything but a juggernaut over the last ten matches or so. I put up several anemic scores during that stretch and lost to Tom by 75-plus in Match 40.
Obviously, I was hoping for to rally in the postseason - and I would've if I'd drawn Sean in the first round instead of your 'Caps - but hey, it ain't happenin.'
I think there is some pretty good fuel here for that discussion about the relative value of the regular season and the playoffs, but we'll get to that later.
Great underdog win for the XMan, the ultimate survivor. Congratulations!
Oh, and here's a nice stat that kind of typifies the end of my season.
Kris Humphries. Games played in the month of March, excluding those in which he was active in the E Team's lineup:
Final Nitecaps 202 ETeam 168 Caps(Westbrook-43/Martin-44/Wright-23/ZBo-38/Amare-30/Rose-27)E(LBJ-36/Lee-27/Monta-18/LaMarcus-31/Lowry-30/Humphries-26)A shocking upset of top seeded Eteam..my Invaders vs.Nitecaps for the finals...this does lend some credence to the argument of regular season vs. playoff money..did we ever settle on that by the way???
Tough loss E. I typically like to see the best teams win.
I was hoping to meet Invaders in the first round. Curious to know how that would have turned out.
Mark I do agree this does lend some credence to the argument of regular season vs. playoff money. To see a team that dominated all season get dumped in round 1 is tough. I sure would like to figure out a way to get that one game advantage in the playoffs for the higher seed in other leagues.
A team that averages 205.0 for 40 matches fails to get to 185 in two straight playoff tests, and the XMan, possibly the first sub .500 team ever to make the postseason, becomes the favorite to win an unprecedented third title.
Fascinating.
Mark, the question is, which part of the argument does this give credence to?
Eric as for Kevin Seraphim he looks like a nice project w/good phyiscal attributes....he's from the mainland not Papillion's island..was brought to France at age 15..there was a Guyanese(British Guyana) born NBA player Rawle Marshall who played breifly w/Pacers and Mavs...he went to high school in Detroit...there was also a major league baseball player born in Amsterdam who's parents came from Surinam(Dutch Guyana)he played briefly for the Giants in the early 90's
His name was Rikert Fanyette or something like that he was an outfielder..What it lends credence to is the argument of regular season excellence being undone in a short playoff that can be flukish in relation th the relative strength shown during the season(no disrespect to Dave's achievment intended here)it also makes the one game playoff advantage seem fair-the only question is how to divide the money in a way that shows that and still rewards the ultimate champion the most...and I'm still for 2nd place money and one game advantage for obvious reasons..
Is there another fantasy basketball league where you can find a discussion that includes Okinawan brides, John Updike, Rikkert Fanayte and Dustin Hoffman's homemade raft on a single blogpost?

Nitecaps 118 E team 71 Lebron/LaMarcus and Lowry 3 L's left for the E's Dave has Westbrook and Martin left..
excruiatingly bad performance from Monta who couldn't do anything..Lee and Wright were also subdued by the Spur defensive rotations

just chex in on all your "flickering giants of make believe." (John Updike)
E Team says:
Tom, I take offense. I regard myself as a steadily glowing giant of make believe.
E Team says:
And Mark, check this out. I've got big props for Kevin (accent on the second syllable) Seraphim. The Wizards' big man from, get this, French Guiana.
French Guiana?! As in Devil's Island? Papillon?
Did he escape on a homemade raft like Dustin Hoffman?
I'm smelling a blow out cooking in OKC.

I don't think Durrant has taken two shots. Look at his foul shots. That's why Westbrook only has two assists.
This would be a shocking upset.

Atlee Hammaker's father was an American of German heritage who was a miltary officer in Okinawa and married a native islander...

It cheers me in my darkest hour.
Kevin Serphaim has committed 5 fouls in 6 minutes pressed into a double overtime at the Clips tonight..
