Mark, can we see the matchups? I'm too lazy to look it up it. Jeez, with four teams within a game and a half, just a battle royal to see who gets the coveted 1 and 2 spots and double jeopardy. Brilliant.
In the latest S.I. profile on Dirk Nowitzki, "(In 2008) the Mavs became the first No. 1 seed to fall to a No.8 in the modern era, bested by Dirk's old mentor, Nellie and the small ball Warriors. Nowitzki grabbed a 60 lb. trash can and flung it, punturing the hall way's sheet-rock more than ten feet off the ground. (A few year's later, Dirk signed the plexiglass that encases the whole." According to S.I.'s Chris Ballard, who wrote the "Happy Trails" column, this must not have happened: The '95 Denver Nuggets came back from a 2–0 deficit to beat the Seattle SuperSonics in five games, marking the first time in NBA history that an eighth seed had defeated a #1 seed.
The '99 Knicks were the second #8 seed to beat a #1 (Miami).
That said, should Ticket, now tied for most wins, somehow finish atop the standings and if last place E Team collects another match high score while Ticket fails to do that, it will be the first time a #1 seed will finish the pre-layoff season as the worst prize collector. Jordan Horford KD Leonard Wade Wall
Joseph Fiennes will act like Michael Jackson in a movie about Liz Taylor, Marlin Brando's exit from NYC with MJ after 9/11. E Team wanted Daniel Day Lewis for the role of Jackie Robinson. What white actor could portray an NBA MVP?
