Invaders will use Jokic/Giannis/Butler/Lowry/Beal and Oladipio

Swat goes:
1 Kyrie, 2 Booker, 3 Melo, 4 ADavis, 5 Drummond, 6 Whiteside

Due to Jokic and Davis butting heads putting him on concussion protocol, I am moving Whiteside to 4 and Schroder to 6.

Are we doing the 7 man thing or what????

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

Sean as far as i know nothing was agreed to yet was it? let me know if I'm wrong about that. How come my Jokic didn't get a concussion? I was afraid to play him against the AD/Cousins front line but in Denver he did ok.....

I don't know why Jokic didn't, ADavis had to leave the game.

Can we put the 7 man DNP sub to a vote?

Would the 7th man be anybody on your roster or a players drafted in the 11th round or later, rewarding owners who draft shrewdly in the late rounds and maintain a full roster? Would it replace the Second Chance Rule or would both still be in effect? And in the former case, would owners have to choose between the two? What about subsequent DNPs? Are we designating an 8th man? And players who neglect their lineups get a free ride with the designated replacement from previous matches or must choose a back up or back ups for each match?
You guys let me know when you've worked all this stuff out.

And Tom, one match after you got a win against the only team you could've beaten with a 185, I put up a 199 and lose to the only team that could've beaten me.

Yes, there is some dumb luck involved.

We've had the DNP discussion and got no input from Wingo, Ticket and P4. I assumed it was dead.
But P4 unwillingness to sub for injured player supports my original argument.
I'm against the designated 7th player for the reason I've covered already. It lends itself to roster manipulation. I would much rather run out a third point guard than any of my shooting guards.
The onus needs to be on the team owner to sub a player (see p4)
I'm still looking for an explanation on why making your own sub is "complicated"?

Wingo silence on the new brouhaha is because he is a simple fellow and has no idea what the proposition is after so many confusing, convoluted and incoherent messages. If someone wants to create a clear yes/no proposition for voting on, that addresses all the issues (kind of like a ballot measure title and materials) and if it is identified and circulated as such, Wingos will be happy to vote. Otherwise, Wingos will continue to ignore the debate.

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

I think Wingo is engaging in some false modesty in his declaration of simpleness. Freedom to choose to ignore something is the American way. Apathy is a legitimate position as is wishing to not complicate this so let's put simple plans to a vote.Having said that please don't get lost in my following ramble because I'm not simple and my background precludes uncomplicated discourse.................. As I've said before I'm against Eric's rationale that drafting well is paramount because the supplements have changed the whole dynamic of how you build a team.I can't support restricting use of your bench based on draft position. The bench is for injury replacement 7-15 as I see it.I'm basically open to less restrictive approaches to roster management. So subs for DNP's could be restricted to only position for position alternates or if you're guy who is out is 6th man then any position as long as he's named before the match he plays. The designation of a 7th guy ahead doesn't appeal to me as much. I think Eric is right that we shouldn't be too forgiving for DNPs therefore I propose the following for a vote-.......................................................................................A player who DNPs on the first game of a match period may be replaced before the next day's game with any player on your roster who plays the same position (or anyone regardless of position if the DNP is 6th man)the 2nd chance stays as it is but you lose it when you designate a replacement. However, if you have 2 DNPs the second chance could apply to one ................................................The appeal here is you must pay attention to activate the 7th guy in the 24 hour window of the DNP and if the DNP happens the 2nd or 3rd day of the match period you're basically left with few if any options except 2nd chance. This would appeal to Eric because the owner must still be proactive.I'm against just naming a 7th man now. Just designating the 7th guy ahead if somebody doesn't play invites the same lack of attention we're dealing with now.Doing it this way forces owners to manage their team.

Ticket says I lost interest long before Wingo did for DNP replacement. P4 listed a sub for each starter instead of a seventh guy. P4 plan gets my vote.

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

Tom that would be 12 guys potentially active I can't see that as a realistic solution because it's too forgiving of complacency. There needs to be a person responsible for his own team management not a solution on autopilot. If you can get 2 more votes I guess it doesn't matter what I think.I see it as a lazy way to handle DNPs because the owner doesn't have to pay attention to what's happening. Under such a scenario you could have owners that never change their lineup once all season because they'd be covered at every position it's far too passive an approach

Unknown said...

Hey Tom...P4 doesn't have a plan. Just sayin'.

Unknown said...

Well put Mark! The responsibility needs to be on the owner. If Mark didn't make it clear enough...

If you have a DNP and catch it, you can sub a player in, that plays the same position and has a game remaining in the match period.

If you don't sub then your opting for second chance points.

I don't know how to make it any simpler than that?

E Team said...

E Team:

Can you choose between subbing for a guy or using the SCR (Second Chance Rule)? And does the same go for a second DNP?

Swat said...

I agree with the responsibility being on the owner too and based on positions when the DNP happens, in a gentleman's way some of the team's when playing each other have allowed for this type of move in the past. Yes, if you don't sub it's up to second half points but you don't get screwed if your player doesn't have a second match in the match period.

Unknown said...

Yes, either by stating that you are opting for second chance or saying nothing and making no sub gives you the second chance run.
If you have a second player with a DNP, I think the same rule applies.

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says
Last year Invaders tuned out. This year P4. Besides Kontrol, true contenders are victims when rivals face short handed teams. So the emphasis should be on the greater good, not on catching dnp’s in time and choosing a sub over a second chance. Give me the plan from the man without a plan.

Unknown said...

I disagree Tom. It shouldn't be the responsibility of the league to baby sit other teams. Second chance points is still in effect for those not tuning it. For those that are attempting to put out a healthy squad, but get bitten by the unforeseen should have have an opportunity to recover.

I am happy to here that you are concerned for the whole as opposed to the individual, but it doesn't apply here.
