Ticket prefers 40 game sked. My Durant draft pick in round two may not have happened had I known three weeks would be erased after the draft. If shortened, wait til next year.
Tom, Durant is already working out and it's still November. You're going to make that argument when the switch to 35 games could significantly improve things for the entire league? You would've taken Durant where you took him no matter what.
I'm not prepared to cast my vote either way yet, but we know full well that key players go missing during our playoffs under the current arrangement. I went without my ADave in the finals last year. Minor injury, crappy team, they shut him down. We can fix some of that stuff by going to 35 matches.
Having first thought of this I see it as logical and fair to all teams because it balances the schedule at 5 meetings against every other league member.More importantly it is very much needed to avoid championships being won because someone played their 15th guy instead of their first round star. That type of preposterous scenario is a real possibility under our present system. The concept of 40 games is just a comfortable round number symbolizing roughly half the real NBA schedule but it has no real logical basis beyond the fact that it's the way this league has operated over a long time period. The evolution of time management by coaches led by the Popovich is example something that could not have been forecast based on our collective NBA experience of 20 years ago which this league's principles are based on.It's time for us to recognize the change in player usage in the 21st century and adapt to it.
It's been a practice of the more rational and forward thinking fantasy football leagues for years, to go with a 16 week format instead of 17 game season. Now most FFL's go with 16 games. I can't really find any good reason to go 40 games.
Of course Tom did mention something about trying to cram an extra match or two in...sounds complicated, but if someone else is doing the work...
Ticket, let's plan on hooking up in a couple of weeks. We moved to west Las Vegas, 2 miles from the Palazzo. I don't remember where you shacked up last time. Was it the Flamingo or the Palms? My number is the same as it ever was...503-880-3283. I look forward to it.
With the introduction of multiple supplimentals, any team who has a lineup deficiency should be able to manage through free agency the ability to overcome The last five matches of the season into the playoffs.
I surprised that Sean favors the 40 match season. Would you also be in favor a 17 week football season?
This is coming from someone who had ride Matt Hasselbeck into the championship because Aaron Rodgers was sitting out the final week of the regular season.
I don't think the argument was ever that we didn't have enough players at any position. The extra free agent drafts solved that problem. It doesn't solve the issue of teams sitting their star players down the stretch.

That looks like one yes, one no, and one undecided so far.

Stay with the 40,
Swat team
E Team:
Wow. Swat staying put.
I like the balanced schedule and the mitigation of last-minute, late-season
DNP's during our playoffs.
I vote for the 35-match schedule.
I've got Invaders, Nitecaps and E Team in favor of the change, Ticket and Swat against. We're halfway there.

Either way...I'm not that passionate.
E Team:
Not passionate? C'mon, Dave, that's not the X-Man we know and love.
