Do we have a time set (I am assuming it is to take place on the 16th)?

E Team:

Sunday? 5 PM?

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

It's this Sunday the 9th which is why I put up this heading it's every other Sunday this one fills the last 2 roster spots. It could be 5pm or preferably later works for me

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

I've got Kobe going Sunday in a night game so we will have to use the first 3 games standings for the draft order

Unknown said...

Wingos can't do it later than 5:00 this Sunday.

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

OK 5pm is good.Hawthorne you would have first pick because we can't count the 4th game in time for this draft(my fault Kobe plays late) so I suppose you could make that selection any time you'd like between now and 5:05 Sunday.

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

does 5pm work for all our teams that intend to participate? The draft order appears to be
1)Wingos
2)ETeam
3)Sockeye
4)Ticket
5)Nitecaps
6)P4
7)Invaders
8)Swat
I may have made an error in my rough calculation so I'll wait for Eric to confirm this

Swat said...

5 pm is fine for Swat.

Swat said...

Wait a minute, doesn't the first supp go by draft order since we are rounding out the final two picks of our full roster?

Swat

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

I would think it would always be by worst record which is in the best interests of league parity but if you guys have done it another way before then that would be a precedent.I don't remember any difference in the first supp.

Swat said...

Our rosters aren't complete though, aren't we picking our last two players in our rosters, so wouldn't it go by draft order and then from here on out go based on record?

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

Let's ask all the league vets Eric/Tom/Dave/Germans if this is how we dod it in the past and/or take a quick vote I think it should be on record and I'm in 2nd place so I'm voting against my own interests

Swat said...

Mark, are you saying I'm not a league vet?! you hurt my feelings...I have only been involved in the league since the second year of its existence. ;)

No problem, just wanted to clarify, we have only had the current draft roster system in place over the last couple years, used to be we went 18 rounds of draft with no supplimentals. Then only 3-4 supps a year, and now the current system, they blend together over time, rules get forgotten, etc.

E Team said...

E Team:

Sean, you make an interesting point, but what we've done in the past is go with inverse order of the standings.

Four - or three - matches isn't much of a sample size, but I'm okay with staying with what we've been doing. If others disagree vehemently, I suppose we could vote on it.

I'm cool with whatever.

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

Sean I know you're a league vet I just wanted more of the vets to weigh in on this since I didn't remember any draft ever not being in inverse order of the W/L records

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

only 6 of the 8 teams have submitted rosters we need P4 and Sockeye rosters who has the draft lists??

Swat said...

Swat sez:

It just seems to me that since we technically have "incomplete rosters" from a draft selection perspective, since our team rosters are suppose to carry a complete compliment of 14 players and we currently only have 12, we are picking up the last to players for our roster, and then we can drop one and pick one (a move indicative of a supplimental) then shouldn't the last to roster picks follow the draft order, then the first real supplimental play would go per current schedule?

League input? Vote?

Swat said...

Swat sez:

No offense taken Mark, just pulling your leg, all good.

Swat said...

Swat sez:

I did some research and we did go in draft order in picking final roster spots in first supp last year:

E Team says:

Gee whiz, I hope guys are planning to be at their computers this afternoon. Very little traffic on here.

I still don't know what we're supposed to do with Dave's 10th-round pick. Is it reasonable to let him make it before we start the supplemental, or would that reward him unfairly after he neglected to get it done on draft night? Maybe we should compromise and let him pick two players when his turn comes up. That seems fair, but hey, you guys decide.

I like Dave's idea to simply resume the draft where we left off, since that is what would've happened if we hadn't run long. It doesn't seem right to reward teams for losing a match or two in the first week of the season. That would punish teams scheduled to pick next for having won theirs.

And should we go two rounds or four or all five? Perhaps that will depend on who shows up. And those that don't participate? Do we let them sift through the remnants afterward?

Let's get it going, people.

Mark also seemed in line with this:

Mark Mosier said...
if all 8 participate then we should finish the draft in the same order w/4 more players and make it a get 1 with a drop 2nd option for the next supp so no more than 2 players can be picked 2 weeks from today. That is how we did it last year as I recall

Swat said...

Swat sez:

I didn't note any other descention in the ranks from the notes I saw from last year's First Supplimental that the filling of the final roster spots would follow the draft order, then supplimentals would go per season record.

E Team said...

E Team says:

Gosh darn, Sean, nice piece of sleuthing! Wow. Going to year-old posts on the blog to sort things out. Well done!

And what a magical blessing that it was I - the E Team - that was scheduled to pick next on draft night! Awesome! I just moved up by one spot.

Remember guys, this thing really needs to be mandatory. Franchises need to be at full depth to avoid potential problems with competitiveness. I'm not saying we rotodraft players for teams owners that don't show up to draft, but it is a thought. Otherwise, people who don't participate could hang out watching things develop over the next two weeks and grab some emerging talent at their leisure. Do we want to sign off on that?

And Sean, the root word you were looking for was "dissent" not "descent." I think you wanted to go "dissension."

Go Ducks. Go Blazers. See you guys Sunday at 5:00.

mrkmosier@gmail.com said...

Sean I stand corrected for my faulty memory and my lack of scrolling to last year's supp that would seem to be the precedent we're looking for but I feel bad for Wingos who need that first pick. Not having been at the draft I don't know the circumstances of Dave's 10th pick and I also don't have the rosters for P4 and Sockeye. Also don't we carry 15 not 14?Those that don't participate today(who I was almost forced to be among)should be able to make picks up to 4pm Monday after that the new info on players would be an unfair advantage even though the teams are playing with smaller rosters but those teams should then be granted an early window (2 Sundays from now) before the next supp to fill their roster. So in review here's my proposal.Take 3 players each to reach 15(or 2 for 14?)Teams not participating today would have until 4pm lock to add players then be froze out until Sunday 2 weeks from now to make an extra selection. We could also allow teams to make a selection anytime between supps. This allowance would serve as a special exemption for teams with no healthy player at one position. This reflects what the NBA did with the Pacers and Thunder allowing the teams to add a 16th player due to a lack of healthy bodies.

Swat sez:

Thanks E for the word correction, it was 1:00 am after a rousing Duck victory over the Utes (what is a Ute, is that in the same family as a Gnu?) when I was doing my research.

Mark, it's all good, I wouldn't trust any of our individual memory due to the drink, drugs, and other asundery manipulations of our various minds over the last quarter century.

Interesting proposal Mark, I am confused on the freeze out portion, we would still just pick our final 3 players today right, and if teams dont show up they get what is
Left to pick from players, then what?

Swat said...

Swat sez:

I get it now Mark, had to re-read.

Sounds good to me and the other half of Swat, Big Daddie Kane also approves.

Hoop Social said...

Ticket's answer to what is a Ute?
If you have to Sign on to blogger with the user name MYBTom@gmail.com, MYB stands for Manhattan Ute Baseball.

E Team said...

E Team says:

The Utes were a nasty bunch that patrolled the area around the Great Salt Lake before the Mormons showed up. The Navajo and other nearby tribes wanted nothing to do with them. In fact, the Mormons forged an alliance with these badasses and used them as muscle in some of their early crimes. Awful stuff. It is well that they were soundly beaten by our Ducks.

The commish should complete the last two Sockeye picks after
Cuz,B.Lopez,Horford,L.Aldridge,Hayward,Batum,Ellis,Korver,Conley,D.Will

The winless Wingos do not need charity my friends, they need new ownership. Hawthorne himself played for the Knicks, now owned by bad rocker (John?) and worse exec Dolan (who once was a genius when he decided on Steak and Lowenbrau in a simpler age). The real problem is our current Knick, the triangulated (emasculated) Mellow Car (Anthony or Cleopatra for my denial), who is playing like a fourth decent rounder... We await the Whatsupp draft filled with the hope and desperation of the inveterate gambler...

Unknown said...

Wingos wonder, is it 5:00 yet, the crack is starting to wear off...

E Team said...

E Team says:

Uh, I think the person who "should" post Sockeye's roster is Sockeye. But having said that, the guy's current 12-man roster is on the "Roster" blogpost.

Hey, I thought we were just going to pick up two today and then pick up our 15th in the next supplemental. I vote for that. Gives us a chance to see some more emerging talent.

Hoop Social said...

P4 agrees! Let's just pick 2. But who were Sockeyes last 2 picks? Only have first 10...

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says
Wingo complains about Smello. He has been helped seldom. Some fans here believe that if Smello gave a crap about winning, he would have taken less and left N.Y. Four starters for NY may stand a chance of being a wise grab, if Smello goes down.

Sockeye last two -- T. Burke, J. crawford.

Swat is in the house.
