Wingo goes Bobby Portis(head) for a pennant. Wow! But how 'bout a triple-40 from LBJ, Gortat and Khris Almighty for starters.

Not to be outdone, Dave opens with a Freak 52 and a 39 from George.

That's championship-quality firepower, people.

Appears the XMan will have to do it himself if he wants into the Dance. The E Team gets a 21 from Sullinger and a sub-15 from the ass-smelling Conley, who evidently gets mired in the Mudley. Sorry, Dave.

Invaders hope Pau and/or Taj get hurt(but not seriously) or in foul trouble so Portis can get numbers!I have Conley w/18 Howard and Cousins score big to start things

This is juicy. Not excited about my Piston match up with the Spurs.

Kemba goes for 23 in the first 15 minutes of the game, now may sit as the Hornets are laying it on the Suns.

I forgot Pau is a Wingo too so the curse goes on Gibson Pau had 20 in first half and Portis 12.Spurs have a back to back so Dave's guys may benefit if Duncan/Parker sit

Kemba leaves w/42

Partial Invaders 137 ETeam 120 I got 3 guys left vs. Eric's Lamarcus...Wingos 185 Nitecaps 133 Dave looks like the winner with 2 Pistons and a Wolf left while Hawthorne needs big numbers from Lowry...Swat 207 Ticket 179 Kawhi needs 29 for Tom...P4 234 JRB 102 Curry and Okafor 2nd chance DNPs Portis didn't do enough but Taj Gipson left the game with a hammy strain. I was half kidding when I said I wanted him injured but I suppose one needs to be careful what one wishes for because you might get it.I may have powers I never thought possible!!

Mark, your renegade AFL lead to this:
Morris Stroud, a 6' 10" hoops player with little football experience, became a notable special teams player — specifically at blocking field goals. On many opponents' field goal attempts, Stroud lined up under the goalposts and tried to deflect the ball as it came down. Later rule changes led to the adoption of Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 (informally known as the "Stroud Rule"): "Goal tending by any player leaping up to deflect a kick as it passes above the crossbar of a goal post is prohibited. The referee could award 3 points for a palpably unfair act".

Aside from that, I liked the switch from ground control to aerial attacks the AFL brought. My favorite funny play resulted in a defender intercepting a pass until he high kicked the pass further down field into the arms of Morris Stroud, I believe. The highlight was legendary in the years of Cosell, Gifford and Meredith on Monday Night Football.

Tom remember this was the 1969 Viking defense of legend the line were known as the "Purple People Eaters" Hall of Famers Carl Eller/Wrongway JIm Marshall/Alan Page etc....

I know, but before Tarkenton and Foreman, Bill Brown and Dave Osborne were not ground control stars like the Colts stallion Norm Bulach. Baltimore had Matte, Mackey and the recently departed Willie Richardson. Jimmy Orr and Raymond Berry were done, but the Colts, thanks to kicker Jim O'Brien, a bartender that year of the Chiefs, beat a talented Cowboy team in the next Super Bowl. A great defense still may be limited scoring wise. And the Vikings beat my Rams to play the Chiefs. That is because Les Josephson was even more pathetic than Dave Osborne as a first option in the backfield.

Did not a defensive lineman named Dickson freeze to death after getting lost on a snow mobile? '70 Vikings offense was worse than any Bills squad lead by Jim Kelly. Hence, the Vikings were the most predictable Super Bowl loser period.

Mark, I'm wondering if the XMan shares your confidence about his prospects. Lowry has 21 fp's at the half against a tough Jazz team that's keeping the game close. Drummond was filling up the stat sheet early against the Spurs, but one of those numbers was two fouls. And did I mentioned that he and ReJax are playing the Spurs? In San Antonio?

I'd see your playoff hopes aren't dead quite yet.

And P4 put up a 234? They may not win the pennant, but I'd say they're ready for the post-season.

The clock is ticking down on history. It's like 1969 at Shea Stadium in Wingoville. A perennial doormat since joining the league, his skillset as a GM unclear amidst the dust of the cellar, the Wingo emerges with a fury in '15/'16, staying at or near the top spot from wire to wire.

E Team:

But wait. It gets better.

Unless Mark's accounting is off, and it rarely is, the runnerup P4 managed to outpoint the Wingos by four, 234 to 230. That means they capture the scoring title - after 35 matches and thousands of fp's - BY ONE POINT.

I thought I'd seen everything.

Wingo wins the pennant! Wingo wins the pennant! Wingo wins the pennant!

Remarkable.

A season for the ages for Li'l Hawthorne, but almost no separation between the regular season champion and the No. 2 P4. Condolences to the Nitecaps, who lost four straight to end the season, but congrats to the Invaders, who truly needed to be at the Dance after a incredible nine straight 200-plus performances down the stretch (P4 had eight. Might that give us a clue as to who the favorites are for the final?)

Ticket and the Invaders must survive a match to get to the do-or-die, but it's clear both are capable. Same double jeopardy setup in the NIT.

This should be good. Get those lineups in, people.
