Wingos have a few comments about the interminable debate between the forces of good and evil (or stupid and annoying) about changes to the league. First, it is very clear that a couple of us have way too much time on their hands (and insufficient purpose in their lives) in order to keep fanning these embers for weeks and months.
1. We are in the middle of a season. A season that is in fact very close, interesting and exciting. The conventional wisdom about any organizational structure is not to make changes in medias res.
2. What makes this ongoing debate particularly tiresome is its lack of structure. Apart from being a fine example of the inefficiency of anarchy, it seems like multiple opportunities for resolution have disappeared into the absence of structure or process.
3. So, some specific suggestions: (a) We table the discussion until after the season. (b) At some point early in the off-season, well before next fall, we set up a process for how this group wants to govern itself. In order to do that, we need to deputize someone to lead this mission before the season ends. (c) The process will involve timelines for proposing, commenting and deciding on any modifications to the existing system such that any decision is made before the draft (as they may affect drafting strategy - another reason not to change in the middle of a season). (d) Wingos don't really care what the system is, as long as it is coherent and accomplishes the goal of reaching a decision pre-draft for next year (in Jerusalem).
4. While our eternal combatants are focused on the DNP issue, there are other potential ideas that might be of interest. Wingos, for instance, are troubled by the use of the ESPN list for position availability, as it is the most restrictive, and least reflects the reality of the new NBA and position fluidity. The off-season debate could include any issues proposed by any member (perhaps with a seconding requirement).
5. Since suggestions lead to work, Wingos understand that they need to be willing to participate in this process. While they have no dog in this fight, Wingos is willing (but not "into") serving as the process building deputy dog if that would be helpful.
6. It might even be fun to have the final voting done live in real time via PDX meetup and conference call, a pre-season initial event to get the juices flowing...
I love it Hawthorne! way rattle our cages. Good ideas especially deferring to off-season and making concerted effort before we draft to finalize rules.. You're wrong about ESPN for positions though Yahoo is way too lenient. I commented on this on the Match 21 score post. Tom we need a 2018 22 score heading.....
Largely agree with Wingo. We should attempt to organize a season-ender as we've done in the past. The goal will be to (A)distribute winnings and (B) get league members to at least narrow down possible DNP fixes.

Feel your pain, X. I've had some tough luck of my own lately.
I didn't say your plan would NEVER work.
