Please comment on position disagreements before Sunday's draft at 4 PM.

Is the online draft time OK with everyone?

nitecaps said...

I find the online draft to be a move in the right direction. It gives me some hope for the future of this league.
Frye (C)

Hoop Social said...

Frye is a C-Both Landry and Gallinari play equal amounts 3 or 4-Gallinari is never on the court w/Harrington for more than a few minutes/Landry however plays frequently w/Scola.-Harden is a SG-taking more minutes from Sefolosha than Westbrook-they picked up Maynor to replace back-up pgs Wilks and Livingston-Sam Young is as much SF as SG-Nocioni plays more SF and since the injury to Martin,Donte Greene has played more SG- despite the fact he's taller because he can defend the 2 and has a 3pt. shot.So say the Invaders...

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

What Invaders says goes. If however someone can recall a position designation at the first draft time that differs from the Godfather of fantasy sports and event attendance, we'll reconsider.

Since the enemy of Nitecaps' dream of a daily transaction sheet is airborne and ready to pounce on any of my fellow pyromaniacs, there's probably more in store from E-Team. He must be seeking a rematch after Nitecaps throttled him in a heated dispute about the fate of another Kryapa in Milwaukee, Il-you-softy the three, not a four.

Speaking of threes, no one has drafted Artest, who may have lost a sponsor for stair-masters.

nitecaps said...

Ohhh Tom, You speak to my heart. but I hope you have noticed my change in heart. A change that has brought on acceptance. Willing to accept the things I cannot change and not try to force people to change the things that are faulty.
That being said...this online free agency cries out for a weekly pickup.
Why not???
I see a fix for DNP's and multiple position designations on the not to distant horizon.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders like weekly pick-up-Nitecapers/Creamers know Invaders are in straight jacket(going crazy) not able to stream daily-serial streaming is my favorite fantasy activity.I just watched Knicks-Detroit first half.since Knicks are showcasing Jeffries for salary dump/trade it blurs true positon of Gallinari.he didn't last 2 minutes w/Harrington in the line-up-he's(Gallinari) offensive 3-defensive 4-Jeffries is his opposite.Chandler is starting 2 now.Can both Chandler and Gallinari be 3's if they both start?

nitecaps said...

Invaders...feel this...multiple position designations would add depth and balance to the league (as would more active owners). Being able to use a player at more than one position would allow us to drop rosters to 12, which would greatly sweeten a weekly free agent draft. Which would allow for teams to more quickly recover from injury. A weekly free agent conference might induce more fodder for conversation participation and/or smack.
Down side is...uhh...

As a one time FBB GM of the year once said... "Even when I dreaming, I'm streaming"

Hoop Social said...

Invaders find Nitecap/Creamer scenario enticing. You guys been doing it this way for 14 years?I know Eric and Tom could follow serial stream on weekly basis w/multiple positions as probably could P4.Where do you/we get the others for this next year??

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

Multiple positions in this league?
This fantasy plays like Match 19 for the Invaders and the Beatles tribute band Rain, who Ticket barely digested last night.

Invaders' David West visits the 60's (fp's), including 44 points, a career Best, (Pete-ex-Beatle).

To stay in character, Rain's McCartney sound-a-like should have sang "When I was 64." So it goes for Invaders' players' Coaches Nelson & Sloan.

Rain played a slection from Revolver. The NBA began investigations into Invaders' Arenas using his locker in the Verizon Center like it was Bullets' retro night all the time.

Should Invaders select Ginobli to replace his reserve role revolvers at shooting guard, he will feature a Rain-like Italian member armed like a Carnaby Street Fellini, minus a rug for Manu.

Position impersonaters are out; too much trouble when squads like the Warriors and the Blazers lead the league in D-Leaguers. Only the former league member JRB could revel in Josh McRoberts' peers.

Weekly drops and pick ups? Hmmmm.
Enticing, but realistic with three league members poorly impersonating men bright with might?

Hoop Social said...

Ticket asks

Draftime Sunday at 4 OK?

Hoop Social said...

Invaders saw earlier incarnations of Rain when living in Reno in 90's.Ironically played Revolver and Rubber Soul cds last night while watching Warriors lose to Lakers. The multiple position question could be solved by going w/current designations like w/my New York ESPN league,Yahoo or NBA.com-then there'd be no arguing. The 3 passive league members probably wouldn't be able to cope.Since 2 of them are in first division now w/out paying attention-it begs the question-why do we think this is needed?I however like Dave's suggestions.

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

Nitecaps knows not everyone of the 5 bloggers will respond week in and week out. That's an ad for Invaders too. The rest of you I doubt. I can be here or there.

So I'm crunching a big white stiff, an impersonator for Portland last year, and an oreo who let one knock his teeth out.

Can you confirm what Godfather Invaders says Mr. E-Team:

Landry & Frye -C?
Gallinari -P?

nitecaps said...

Of course this doesn't work with inactive teams. This league doesn't work with inactive teams.
Multiple position designations would be easier than the current system and far more realistic.
Invaders suggestion of using yahoo as the base format is perfect. No arguing, no wasting time. This is a process long overdue!!!

Hoop Social said...

Invaders believe Frye is obvious C(Stoudemire is the 4) but I'll leave open whether Landry(3 body /4 game) or Gallinari(4 body/ 3 game) are 3's or 4's-they're both but Landry is harder to figure because Hou plays small ball.Only real C is Anderson who backs up 6-6 C Hayes.

Hoop Social said...

I've got a problem w/early late call-Pistons(Gordon) and Clips(Kaman) don't play the next match period- both play Thursday and Kaman goes Monday-Is it early call Thursday?

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

Maybe Mark and Dave are right. What about it E-Team? The Germans will return from golf rounds in the desert after I witness Canadian decimation of their fatherland in the Olympics. Want to handle a weekly supplemental draft after I do it in Jan.? Multi-positions wait 'til next year.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders update on Houston minutes through 34 games-Hayes 22.1 minutes played(started) all 34-Andersen 14.8 minutes played all 34-Landry 26.6(not 30) minutes in 33 games-Scola 30 minutes-It's clear Eric-Hayes and Andersen 36.9 minutes at 5(not 25 as you thought) leaving 11 minutes per game for Scola and Landry(or anyone else)to play the 5-Surely you're not suggesting we make a guy a C who couldn't possibly play a whole quarter at the position??

Hoop Social said...

Invaders will drop Diaw and will take Landry as a 4 or 3 (not 5) assuming Eric is only one who believes Landry plays C(how many votes are needed?) and Shittslinger doesn't pick him.If Shittslinger does pick him that's my bad luck and I'll take someone else but Landry can't be a C.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders see that Tom has listed Ginobli as available but he isn't-he still sits on Shittslinger bench

nitecaps said...

Landry (4)

nitecaps said...

Speights (5)

Hoop Social said...

Invaders believe Moon River is ok w/Speights as a 5-there's more minutes behind Dalembert than Brand plus Young plays some 4.Brezec is only other 5 and rarely plays....As a compromise suggestion to multi-positon argument I think we should entertain the idea of at least changing single position designations during year that don't make sense. For instance Chandler and Gallinari can't both be 3's because they both start...Either Gallinari is a 4 or Chandler should be eligible at 2 this time...Landry(since he doesn't start it's not as good an example) started to play more 3 when Budinger went down 8-9 games ago,Ariza/Battier spending a bit more time at 2,etc....

Hoop Social said...

Sup. Draft at 4PM Today
Schittslinger
Invaders 4:03 Landry-3? (KC* OKs)
Ticket 4:06
E-Team 4:09
McCarthyists 4:12
D-By Shooters 4:15
Plus Four 4:18
Nitecaps 4:21

Hoop Social said...

Invaders are interested in 2nd pick depending on who's dropped/chosen...

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

E-Team's running a little late. This is going to be a four man draft with Invaders & Nitecap, as far as I can tell.

I don't have much interest in disputing positions. I do think that we must keep Chandler a 3 since that's what he was before. If that forces Gallinari to 4 it's OK by me.

Hoop Social said...

Ticket drops Oden

nitecaps said...

Creamers drop
Nick Young

E Team said...

E Team says:

There is no way Carl Landry is a small forward and Mark knows it. He can have him as a 4, which is what he would be playing on any team other than the center-free Rockets, but he's not a 3.

E Team drops Hedo Turkoglu.

Hoop Social said...

Ticket asks
Invaders gets Landry. Mark, you're choice 3 or 4?

Hoop Social said...

Landry can play 4 for Diaw as I anticipated but he plays more 3 than 5.Invaders will play him at 4

E Team said...

E Team says:

Is Mark good with Landry as a 4?

Next?

Hoop Social said...

Ticket takes Gallinari at 3. Who of us approves (2 votes cinches it.)

Hoop Social said...

Landry will be a 4-I'm ok w/it

E Team said...

E Team says:

Tom. Go.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders wonder if anybody wants chandler as 2 or 3??

Hoop Social said...

Chandler's a 3 since first draft

E Team said...

E Team says:

E Team selects Omri Casspi (SF).

Dave: You may select at 4:12.

Good work, people. I'm out.

Hoop Social said...

If Tom wants Gallinari to be a 3 it's ok by Invaders

Hoop Social said...

Go X-Man Go X-Man!

nitecaps said...

Galinari as 3
Landry as 4

all good with me

I wanted Caspi

But I believe Nate Robinson was dropped in an earlier draft.
Can I get confirmation on that?

Nate Robinson PG

Hoop Social said...

Yes Dave-Nate's avaiable

Hoop Social said...

Invaders wanted Casspi as well

nitecaps said...

Nate Dogg it is

Hoop Social said...

Ticket drops Millsap

Hoop Social said...

Invaders drop Morrow-is it my pick?

Hoop Social said...

yea

Hoop Social said...

If it's my pick then Invaders would like to take Chandler back but wish he was a 2...

Hoop Social said...

Quite a surprise that 3 Knicks would go in supplemental-I thought Tom would take Chandler insted or Gallinari

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

Ok Mark, Chandler's a 2, but don't complain if a dropped guy's position change in a future supplemental can't change position. In this case Hughes/Jeffies not worth the time since no one would draft'm.

I'll take Lou Williams-1

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says

The mob in NY wants D'Antoni to tour with GALLINARI IN THE OLD COUNTRY AFTER THE SEASON, SO I'M MAKING A SUBJECTIVE CALL ON A BIG WHITE STIFF OVER THE TRUE B-BALL BREED.

Hoop Social said...

I'll take Chandler as 3 I don't want to perpetuate the argument since he was a 3 on draft day-I only have one 3 now anyway-Maggette

E Team said...

E Team says:

By the way, here's a little something for you geniuses.

Carl Landry shoots 58 percent from the field and has not attempted a three-point shot all season.

That's a small forward?

In case you were wondering, the players I used to think of as the best small forwards in the league, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, shoot 50 percent and 47 percent from the field, respectively.

So I stand corrected. You guys were right and then some. Landry is not only a small forward, he's the BEST SMALL FORWARD IN THE NBA.

My bad.

nitecaps said...

just another case for multiple position designation.

PG 1. Aaron Brooks
2. Kyle Lowry
SG 1. Shane Battier
2. Jermaine Taylor
3. Tracy McGrady
PF 1. Luis Scola
2. Carl Landry
3. Brian Cook
4. Mike Harris
SF 1. Trevor Ariza
2. Chase Budinger
C 1. Chuck Hayes
2. David Andersen

E Team said...

E Team says:

Mark, I appreciate your show of good conscience in taking Wilson ("Groovy Situation") Chandler as a three.

As opposed to Tom blithely signing off on a redesignation of a player position in mid-season, something we have not done in 14 years. That's nice, Tom. Do you have any integrity whatsoever?

Hoop Social said...

Eric-Landry plays defensive 3 in tandem w/Ariza and Battier who also play 2-they all have the lateral quickness to do it-W/out Budinger, the rookie Jermaine Taylor plays 5.8 minutes in 13 games this year-7 last night-but is usual DNP-Ariza/Battier both have 2 guard minutes/Ariza has to play 39 minutes a night-If your argument is That Scola plays 11 minutes a game as a 3rd C then Landry is clearly a 4 but he still slides to 3 defensively to cover for absence of McGrady and Budinger at 2(minutes taken by Ariza/Battier)...

Hoop Social said...

Invaders would like to note that contrary to Nitecaps chart(thanks Dave) of Rockets roster-Budinger's minutes have been almost entirely at 2 due to McGrady absence and his shooting range....Who's the 3 Battier or Ariza?-answer-their interchangeable depending on matchup/fouls etc....

E Team said...

E Team says:

I'd think a little fanfare would be in order on the occasion of my having acquired the first Israeli-born player in NBA history.

I missed my chance earlier when two of my former heroes, Doron Sheffer and Constantine Popa, elected to play elsewhere.

Oh wait, Popa wasn't from Israel. He just looked like Jeff Goldblum's uglier brother.

nitecaps said...

Interchangeable......hum.......Do some players play more than one position???

Hoop Social said...

Eric don't forget the forerunner at UCONN of Sheffer- Nadav Henefeld(the Gaza Stripper)known for his D-you think it PC to call him that now !!Popa was ugly but you can't be a Jew w/ a name like Popa?Few jews stayed in Romania after the war very long

E Team said...

E Team says:

Dave. You think there are issues now around player position designations? What do you imagine will happen when we throw open the lid on arguing for multiple positions? It'll make Pandora's Box look like the little thing on your dresser that you keep your weed in.

And by the way, you wanted Nate Robinson at small forward, right?

Hoop Social said...

Eric-The Knicks brought a highly regarded player Oded Katash to camp 8-9 years ago but he tore up a knee-he was billed as the greatest player to come out of Israel w/game similar to Toni Kukoc only he was 6-7 and quicker and could play either 1-2 or 3.Casspi looks great right now-the Kings are trying to trade Nocioni and give him the 3 spot for years to come

nitecaps said...

Solved simply E, Use a predetermined site. No pointless arguments that has both sides making valid points. This system is to subjective and quite frankly you are the king of these arguments. Well...you and the 15 year old girl next door.

Good Luck all and lets hope no one has to use any of these pics.

E Team said...

E Team says:

She's, like, 24 now. She was 15 when I met her.
