A Nets fan is dying after jumping out of a second story window. I think of my past self being ejected by security when reading about him. Tonite I will attend a Justice League rally outside a holiday party hosted by the mayor. He stepped on bicycle riders like me to the tune of 550 bucks for running a red lite twice. More about the Nets fan can be read in NY Times. Here is how this story ends...

Evans said that Vanchiro had sustained minor head injuries and sprained his lower back the night he was ejected from Madison Square Garden. A Knicks spokesman that night said that Vanchiro had been warned about unruly behavior before his ejection. Vanchiro said afterward that he had been standing and cheering loudly.

Evans said that she and members of Vanchiro’s family had become increasingly concerned about his behavior in recent days. She said his troubles had reached a point that “he just stopped sleeping, because he didn’t want to have those nightmares anymore.”

Vanchiro attended the Nets’ game at Barclays Center on Friday night. On Saturday, Evans said, he went to his father’s home to try to rest.

After the Nets moved to Brooklyn in 2012, Vanchiro quickly worked himself into the fabric of the team’s fan culture. He attended almost every home game and was even invited to fly on the Nets team plane last season for a trip to London, where they were playing a game.

“I think he’s a great representation of what Brooklyn means to us and the fandom we’re looking for from all Brooklynites,” Brett Yormark, chief executive of the Nets and Barclays Center, said in November. “I’m hoping we can find more Jeffreys.”

Vanchiro grew up in Queens and resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

More than a decade ago, he made a name for himself as one of the most prolific artists in New York’s graffiti scene. After legal troubles related to his graffiti, Vanchiro shifted his focus to poker and made a living for several years as a professional player.

In the last few years, he had shifted his focus back to art, primarily producing graffiti-style works on small canvases.

Is there some law of nature that says that one of my guys has to suck ass every match?

I do not know if the fantasy gods are behind the champ. After a moment of silence in Brooklyn for a suicidal Net fan (read above partial story), the champ's Dwyane scorches the Nets for the Heat's first twelve points. Then a leak in the new Barclay Center roof delays the gam for half an hour. It had only rained for half an hour because I fetched Handel's Messiah tickets at Lincoln Center and it stopped raining by the time I walked 8 miles around Central Park. Wade without Bosh should have resembled the NBA champ of '06 but failed to impress this Net follower after the delay.
Elsewhere, the longest streak in Warrior history ends in Memphis. No team has ever been successful under a new coach as G.S. has been under Steve Kerr. A question for the follower of the Beirut born coach in Oakland: Who is the only other non-Celtic besides Kerr ('96-'99) to win four straight titles as a player?

Ticket says the leaky roof will not be as much of a problem for the Nets in the future as condensation on the court from the ice during the playoffs if the Nets and Islanders return to mid 70's form.Symbolic Moment to Commemorate Teams Reuniting at Barclays Center for 2015-16 Season

BROOKLYN – During a pre-game ceremony minutes before tip-off of the Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks game tonight, players from the Nets and New York Islanders will meet at center court to exchange team jerseys in commemoration of the Islanders moving to Brooklyn next season.

Nets players Mason Plumlee, Mirza Teletovic, Bojan Bogdanovic, Cory Jefferson and Markel Brown will join Islanders players Nick Leddy, Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, Thomas Hickey, Matt Martin and Casey Cizikas. Each Nets jersey will include the last name and number of an Islanders player, and each Islanders jersey will have a Nets player’s name and number.

From 1972 to 1977, the Nets and Islanders shared a home at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Starting for the 2015-16 season, the teams will be reunited when the Islanders make Barclays Center their new home.

Besides the hoops fan ejected by security in MSG then "falling" from a window due to sleep apnia, check out this casualty of sports in NYC....Perkins of Harlem, was unconscious in the park when emergency officials arrived on Monday. He was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Medical Center. The exact cause of death was not known, the police said.

The tire swing hovers about two feet from the ground, and is attached to a bright yellow structure by three long chains. Bystanders at the scene told parks officials that the victim, who was visiting the park with a young relative, appeared to be shadowboxing with the swing when it hit him in the face.

Accidents involving play equipment are not uncommon across New York City’s 1,700 parks and playgrounds, but they are usually relatively minor. Tire swings are relatively scarce these days amid more modern climbing structures and play sets.

Parks officials said on Tuesday evening that they had not uncovered any record of a previous fatality in a city park involving a tire swing.

Since Brooklyn is on Long island the Islanders can play there without a name change I recall when the Devils were to play in the new Newark arena the Nets would've shared that if not for Ratner's Brooklyn development...these odd deaths in NY remind me of the old Stirling Silliphant tv tagline "there are 8 million stories in the Naked City this has been one of them"...

And remind Wingos of the fabulous Matt Scudder detective novel by Lawrence Block, taking place in a Son of Sammish NYC "Eight Million Ways to Die"... Thanks Ticket.
