Some interesting thoughts on NBA items-still don't understand release of Smith but do understand new math if one time chance until labor agreement expires in 2017 to stretch money owed for salary cap purposes over 5 years so his 27 million owed for 2 years becomes 5.4 for the next 5 years but he still gets full 13.4 million this season-where is Josh Smith going?Mavs/Rockets/Kings/Grizzlies and Clippers would be favorites-Josh played at Oak Hill Academy high school with Rondo but Mavs are only one of the above mentioned teams where he wouldn't start-Jason Terry is the 3rd player with 2000 3's Reggie Miller and Ray Allen are the others how many would Jerry West have had if they counted in the 60's and early 70's?-speaking of 3's Meyers Leonard 3-7 from the arc?

Smith, like Kenny Smith, a Rocket. It is all about keeping up with the Jonses, or shall I say the Cubans since we are talking hoops instead of pigskins. This makeover may alleviate Harden's burden of carrying the squad this season. I do not get to watch games much so I do not understand why Smith could not make Detroit any better with the talented front court it has on paper. Myhope as a Blazer fan is that Smith will not blend with Houston either and ultimately hurt them in the post season. How can he guard LA? Tim? AD? Blake? Even aging Lee, Dirk and Zbo? On the upside he would come in handy if Howard has anymore downtime. His contract reminds me of why our currency has turned confederate. How can so typical an athlete now earn so much more than the elites of a few years earlier? When will the over hyped Joe McIlvaines quit bettering the Shawn Kemps in their twilight?

Detroit was an early call Sunday.

Joe McIlvaine?! Nice reference, Tom. You and Mark are the only people in the world that even remember the guy.

And as far as the mystery of the Pistons eating Smith's deal, Good Lord, Mark, you're the smartest hoops guy I've ever known, slightly ahead of Tom, and you don't get it.

Josh Smith is dogshit.

This guy makes his teams suck. He's fucking terrible. He's puts up numbers in the hidden, worthless seams of the game that don't matter one bit when it comes to winning or losing. He doesn't give a flying fuck about the things you need to do to help your team win.

Ask Tom, we saw him in a game in Portland a few years back in which he got absolutely used by Aldridge and did zero on the other end. And the Blazers were not good (Raymond Felton era). His team was never in the game because of it.

Tom's right. We should hope he goes to Houston so he can fuck up a pretty good Western Conference contender. Every time he touches the ball, his team gets worse. Chandler Parsons is ten times better.

But hey, whatever. You guys can keep thinking of him as a superstar if you want.

Wingo looking to get something from his 'Dip and upset the Nitecaps. You go, child.

Happy day before day before Xmas, people.

Wingos agree with the E of team that Josh Smith is toxic, is a subtractor. The way the guys on NBA TV talked about it last night is his usage percentage is the highest on the team, so a big negative there. Rockets are going to bite on him, they can't help themselves, they are afraid of not doing something to get there and will instead do something to mess with chemistry...

BTW on NBA TV they sometimes have a glitch on their ticker that references a player (on the BUcks) as "E. Team" -- pretty cool props...

I do not know how the champ could express disappointment in his Wolves lead by Shabazz Muhammad that would mine a deeper well in hell than his opinion of Josh Smith and in years past Kobe.

I will take a stab at it. If the Wolves win in Cleveland tonite, without Rubio, Pekovic, Martin and recently traded Cory Brewer, odds on Yahoo's site for game previews has Shabazz and company taking twelve times what you could lose. (-1200).

No one hear may appreciate this line of thinking to bet on Shabazz. But imagine your the J Smoove of basketball bettors. You hear from the Xman in Vegas that all you have to do turn into Paul Allen is bet more a tadbthan you all you lose every time you bet. The big money on the King tonite hardens back to a tank job by M. Jordan against the Raptors lead by Damon Stoudamire the last or second to last year of the Bull's second three peat.

X man and I, as fans of the cult film Hard Eight, are believers even in the most reckless of bets as long as you stick to a plan. My plan is to pick the fix. Here comes the biggest one of the year.

More about Woves

Ticket goes for this smack offered by "chad spook" on Yahoo's nba site:

It's gonna be a laugho-rama tonight for all you Cav's fans watching Andrew Brickins put up brick after brick..LOL. He is horrible. The Cavs did the right thing trading this bozo.

Ticket wonders if Wiggins is worth Josh Smith.

Trying to follow the stream of your consciousness is probably the closest I can come to reliving the experience of eating mushrooms and dropping acid in college (not generally at the same time).

Are you saying I should bet on the 'Wolves to beat Cleveland tonight?

E Team:

That last comment was addressed to Tom, in case anybody was wondering.

Gawd, my team is stinking it up. I think Ticket can take this one to the bank.

Another nice 31 from A Davis. 30, 30, 20, 31 from his counting games. 48, 54, and 58 from non-counting.

Wiggins is actually a great prospect precisely because he can shoot and hop to nose bleed elevation.Tonight he was 3-3 from the 3 point line 9-16 overall and had 27.The early bricks are the product of a 19 year old that should be in college learning rather than enduring on the job education pertaining to what he can do during the grind of a long NBA season which is a perfect segue to the Josh Smith discussion,The Wolves starting 2 19 year olds Wiggins and Levine for an extended period has never happened as far as I can recall.

E Team:

Russell Westbrook is a very good player, but anybody who thinks he's better than Damian Lillard should go back and watch the last 17 minutes of tonight's game.

Go Blazers.

As for the toxic Josh Smith debate I will expand on this. When I was a young NBA fan I could never grasp why a player would have a great year and then not be able to consistently replicate that performance level.Smith as you know came right out of high school which is the right economic choice but the wrong physical one quite often.Smith peaked as an NBA player in his early 20's with Atlanta. He could get by with tremendous physical skills masking to some degree the un-refined basketball ones something that usually happens with young players. The great ones improve their shooting and over all games while the majority do not.Ideally his skills reflect a 4 game but he has a 3 body and that's his biggest problem .The best comparison among younger players would be Thaddeus Young. But a better analogy on the devolution of a 4 into a 3 game is the Blazers own Rasheed Wallce.Smith and Wallace both started with strong inside games and then became enamored by the long outside shot which Rasheed could drill but Josh couldn't.Why does this happen? The answer is obvious you don't have to run 94 feet it cuts down on your running and makes it easier to get back on defense over the long NBA grind. So what is toxic is the dis-interest in improving your skill level as your body inexorably ages.In answer to Tom it's the now belatedly fired Joe Dumars who was stupid enough to believe he could play Josh as a 3 next 2 tall trees Drummond and Monroe that's the real Piston problem

correction Wingos have 152 so Melo can win it for Hawthorne with just 30

Ticket agrees with the scorekeeper about bad choice by Dumars. My comparison to a Minnesota pick to beat the KKKavs was like Dumars going with Smith.

Ticket says
Lakers (+375) paid nearly four times what you bet by beating G.S., the co-leader for wins in NBA . Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer shoot 15-18 against Green and Lee. Portland atop the standings with 23 wins (with 3 more home games than G.S.) . With Durant promising to be in and out of the lineup during his recovery, Portland benefits from playing in the weakest western division.
