Yeah Dave it probably is-let's put on a solid front for more 2nd place money..Since Eric stated that winning the playoffs is more fluke tham substance comperd to winning regular season title then 2nd or even 3rd should be worth something...Eric I was correct on P4 and Paul after checking-see my post after yours on 32 scores-Invaders continue w/Howard/PGasol/Granger/Nash/Terry and Baron..I need Gordon back and my old guys are getting tired down the stretch!!!!!!!

Mark, I don't know where that conversation about prize money is on the post. We should resolve that before any more time goes by.

I think my counterproposal was to lower the prize money for regular season winner and scoring titleist from $125 to $100, raise the champion's take from $375 to $400 and create a $25 prize for second place in the regular season (I think we had set aside $50 for second place in the playoffs). I also lobbied for a little something for the third-place finisher in the postseason ($25).

I'll add it all up again and see if it squares. Do you approve of the above numbers?

Hey, who's sleepin' on the Blazers' 227-lb starting center, Dante Cunningham? He went 18 and 13 tonight.

Eric-after thinking about this some more the only thing I'd suggest is that 2nd place money for regular season be the same as for the playoffs-so if we back off my original/your counter suggestion of 400 for playoff winner and go back to your original 375 then we could go 50 for both the second place finishers and still have 25 for 3rd in playoffs....we need to have some other input besides the 2 of us..but I think as I said before that finishing 2nd in regular season deserves as much as second in playoffs and more than 3rd

E Team says:

Mark, another possibility is to drop the championship money down to $350 - which still comfortably meets the requirement of giving the overall winner upwards of one-third of the pot - and using the money to restore the regular season winner and scoring title money to $125.

Of course, the funny thing about this conversation is that it's starting to look a lot like the presumptive second-place finisher lobbying for more second place money and the probable regular season winner and scoring titleist angling for bigger prizes for those achievements.

I think maybe I should just go back and look at last year's payouts and duplicate them as closely as possible.

Here's a hypothetical. Should finishing second in the regular season and then finishing second in the playoffs be worth as much as winning the regular season title?

E Team says:

Here's the last payout scheme I'm going to propose. Because winning the regular season title is clearly a more significant achievement than winning the scoring title - a team could conceivably win the scoring title and not even make the playoffs - we keep the pennant winner at $125 and drop the scoring titleist to $100. The team that finishes in second place in the regular season gets $50.

The championship is worth $350, more than one-third of the purse and the same as last year.

The second-place finisher in the playoffs gets $50; the third-place finisher gets $25.

The remaining $200 goes toward MHS payouts.

There is no money for winning the NIT, because there will be no NIT with only three human lottery teams.

Last-place finisher buys a round of drinks, as always

The $50 for second place in the regular season seems a bit high to me, but boosting first place to $125 does help create more of a distinction between the two accomplishments.

The most imperfect thing about the whole scheme is that we simply could use more money. It would be nice to get an eighth team back in the mix. Nine would be okay, too. I don't regard Kontrol as a stopgap; I kinda like it. It's like having the pitcher hit. A relatively easy out... theoretically.

Or we could hope for improving economic fortunes for our members and bump up the entry fee.

But then, to me, this thing has never really been about the money. Call me crazy, but I'm far more intrigued by the history we've created by keeping this goofy thing alive for 15 years. That's older than my teenaged daughter. (Just not as intelligent or good-looking.)

Invaders like the last proposal by Eric...I'll vote for it..

WTF?! How does Dwyane Wade score 25 points in 10 minutes? Do the Pacers have five guys on the floor?

I don't know which is more ridiculous...That there is no formula after 15 years or that I have never even had any idea of what the payouts where?
Anyway...since you didn't ask. Here are my thoughts.
Who pays out for regular season finish? No one. You payout for scoring champ. The end.
Champ should get 50% of pot 2nd 30% 3rd 20% or money back.
Something in that ballpark is pretty standard.
Don't try and complicate thing with 10 bucks here and 30 bucks there.
This thought of paying something for coming in second or third in the regular season is ridiculous.

The playoff is where your money is made.

The final standings right?

You guys are trying to out think this thing.

I should have assumed there was something screwy going on.
