E Team says:

Tom, what the...? You're only going to play three guys in this match?

All scores reported correctly for Match 23. Nice job by the league office.

And in case anyone was wondering, the Celtics are an early call. They go tonight (Thursday) for Match 24. Wish somebody would keep an eye on this stuff.

E Team says:

LeBron, DLee, Rondo, SJax, LaMarcus, Tyreke

Invaders would like to inform E-team that his Tyreke is on pace to be only the 4th rookie to avg. 20pts./5 reb/5 ast/-who are the other 3?Invaders have a shook up lineup of Bynum(against Kaman-less Clips)Granger/West/Ellis and then the quandry-should I play Dunleavy coming off 30 and facing worst team in league or Martin in first game back?and should I play Williams 6th(Ellis s me starter now)or my red-hot Warrior Maggette?By doing this I'm imitating Tom's incomplete lineup-As of now my gut tells me to go w/Maggette and Martin

Hoop Social said...

Invaders as of now are Bynum/West/Granger/Ellis/Martin and Maggette.

Invaders would've liked to go to the game w/you guys-no longer jet-set sports freak of past years-I like Ridenour better than Blake and I believe he has an expiring contract which means along w/Jennings factor and the Thunder experience (there's no Sonic option)-Portland would be an attractive option for the Blaine,Wa. native.Same goes for soon to be looking for work Jamal Crawford(wouldn't you rather have him than Webster Outlaw or Rudy?-and did you know this year w/Hawks he will finally no longer be answer to trivia question-Which current player played the longest w/out ever appearing in 1 playoff game?) and Nate Robinson( they are better options than Finns and Limeys like Koppenen and Joel Freeland)...Next year could look real good for Blazers-Outlaw Blake and Howard and perhaps Rudy will be gone....

E Team says:

Mark, I think the Blazers should assemble this roster...

Webster SF
Roy SG
A.Brooks PG
Kevin Love PF
Hawes C
Natty Rob PG
Crawford SG
Dunleavy SF
Stuckey PG
Ridenour PG
Udoka SF, SG
Brockman PF

Granted, they're a little undersized, but maybe you could talk Mike Doleac or Jawann Oldham out of retirement.

E Team says:

Oh, as for your 20-5-5 question...

Michael, Magic and LeBron?

The Big O?

Connie Hawkins?

Sidney Wicks?

Hoop Social said...

Invaders say E gets 2 out of first 3(LeBron and Michael) then bonus points for Oscar-Connie Hawkins rookie year was 1961-2 in the ABL(ever heard of it?- he was leading scorer after freshman year at Iowa)Sidney Wicks shows your Portland roots(5 assists?)-the best player on my Frosh team had kidney surgery-we called him "Kidney" Wicks the next year on JV.The 3 I mentioned and Udoka,Brockman and Dunleavy would be available next year-you'll never get Stuckey/Hawes/Love or Brooks any time soon.Oldham was first ethnic Sudanese player beating Manute and Deng for that honor.Do you remember Frank Oleynick?Eddie Miles?I think Devan George(where did he go to college?) on the Warriors looks(facially) like a young Greg Ballard....

Hoop Social said...

Invaders should point out due to my advanced age Wicks was still at UCLA when we had Kidney Wicks-we had another player named Rowe( like Curtis Rowe the other forward w/Wicks at UCLA)we called him "Coitus" Rowe..hey we were young and thought it was very funny.....all these stories came out at my friends funeral recently...

E Team said...

E Team says:

Mark, who was in the backcourt on that Wicks and Rowe team? Paul Westphal?

And here's some UCLA trivia for you younger kids. Who played alongside the Dutchman Gadzuric, who was sighted at the RG the other night, in his college days?

Ed O'Bannon? Cameron Dollar?

And does anyone remember the sensation who earned the nickname "Baby Jordan" playing across town at USC? Stacy might have had him on his roster at one point.

(Mark, you can't answer.)

Hoop Social said...

Ticket says
Trojan Man Harold Minor-"baby Jordan"...AA White Sox bat boy.

Eddie Miles takes a handout by becoming Phil Jackson's backup as designated hacker for the Knicks.
All-star in '66 for Pistons.

Speaking of over-the-hill:

Duncan's rest on Wednesday came out of the blue, but from here on out, when you see back-to-back nights on the Spurs' schedule, don't be surprised if Duncan sits one of those games.

Tim vs Bobcats Fri. or Griz Sat.?
I'll guess he'd rather deal with ex-mate Nazr, not young upstarts.
Then I'll bet against myself. It's a speculation strategy derived from a term called hedging your bets.

Ticket asks,
Pre-Gary Payton, was Ballard the highest NBA season scorer out of an Oregon school?

McCarthyists vs DBS
Invaders vs E-Team
P4 vs leader
Nets vs Ticket

Since E-Team's squawking about Pierce & Rondo's numbers from Thur., I'll note three days in advance the MLK Day games Monday start in the morning, so that's the deadline.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders would like to remind E-team that Westphal played at USC and his other backcourt mate was the great Gus Williams-UCLA had Mike Bibby's dad Henry in 70-1.I can't remember the other guard I'd have to look it up...As for Ticket's Oregon question the only prominent NBA players from Eugene/Corvallis prior to Ballard I recall were Dave Gambee(shot strange underhand side swipe free throws)from old Syracuse Nats/Sixers and then Mel Counts a 7foot small forward(kind like Coby Dietrick who George Karl's son is named for from their ABA Spurs days or Matt Bullard/Matt Bonner type)Ron Lee never scored much either...Blair Rasmussen?short career w/Nuggets...

Hoop Social said...

If Invaders were to be politically incorrect in answering Ticket question-The Oregon schools had too many white guys in the days before Ballard..I left out Jim Barnett the original Blazer among prominent early NBA/Oregon players....

McCarthtists lineup-
SG- Kobe Bryant
PG- Baron Davis

PF- Antwan Jamison

Enjoy it for a couple more days Nitecreamer. Your great run has come to a halt. Back to averageville for you I'm afraid.
P4 just keeps on keepin on. Even if two of our guys are out with season ending injuries. We draft for this purpose and do it quite effectively. The 'Germans' are the new 'Jones's'

Billups
Steph Curry
Durant
Nowitzki
Nene

Eric-John Vallely was the other guard when Rowe and Wicks were juniors. He played for Atlanta and Houston in NBA.I still can't remember the '71 guard w/Bibby..Greg Lee came in '72

E Team said...

E Team says:

Terry, because the Celtics don't play in the current match period, you get Pierce's numbers from last night. The good news is that he had a nice game. If you don't submit another lineup by deadline, you'll get the guys you posted with Pierce instead of Artest, which is probably a blessing.

Just lettin' you know.

Ticket, actually yahoo, says
“We’re going to start resting Tim more in the second game of back-to-backs,” Popovich said.
So...
Okur
Tim
Melo
Gay
Wade
Parker

The Ellis back to basket bomb from the tunnel harkens back to JR Rider, Eric's favorite jail Blazer-mine's Rod Strickland. How can anyone forget Wolve JR leaping into the stands at half court and winging a behind the back pass from half court into the most sensational 3 pointer in the history of humanity. Second place goes to Reggie's 3 swings, 3 dingers in the '78 Series. A close third may be Tom Dempsey's 63 yard field goal, though aided by a flat iron plate in place of toes.

Hoop Social said...

Tom- I checked Ballard- best year 18.8/Barnett 18.5 to lead Blazers first year of existence/Gambee 16.7 w/'62 Syr. Nats/Counts 12Gambee was from Corvallis-Counts from Coos Bay

vs. P4

Wallace
Bosh
A. Bogut
Z.Randolph

I feel like I've been waiting to give these guys a beat down for month. My team was getting complacent. But a loss to the DBS' has got my squad refocused!

Hoop Social said...

Steve Johnson average 18 for Blazers or SPurs?

nitecaps said...

Hey Mark,
What's the guy complaining about??? If the league is set up for serial streamers than you need to use it. He should be complaining to the commissioner about not setting a limit. What is the limit? In my other league we are limited to 7 moves a week. The average team has about 70 moves. Believe it or not Los Mexicanos has by far the fewest moves.
I am fortunate enough to be in first place there. But the competition is tough and will go down to the wire.
Can't wait until pitchers and catchers report.
What are your thoughts on the horrible (in my opinion) off season the Giants have had? I love the Chronicle's sports page. Are they tearing Sabean up? They say that they are interested in every big free agent yet they end up with A. Huff. I don't think he is a big upgrade from Travis Ishakawa. Fortuneatly he is only a one year contract. I think they would have been better off with Beltre at third and the Panda at first.

Hoop Social said...

I checked Johnson- best year was 16.8 Portland/he was younger than Ballard but came out early...He was significant but had short career finished w/Warriors.

Hoop Social said...

I read yesterday's chronicle extolling virtues of Huff-as lefty in our park I don't know that he has enough left to hit 20 hrs/Baltimore is great hitters' park/he got a ton of doubles to go w/his 30+ hrs 2 seasons ago-I'm not sold on Ishikawa-he seems like a classic AAAA guy to me-too good for minors but below avg. in majors...I don't think Giants were serious about Beltre to outbid Red Sox...

Hoop Social said...

And Dave the Giants still have no C-Huff will probably just replicate Molina's numbers so there's no net improvemnt in their anemic offense

Hoop Social said...

The latest target is vet Rod Barajas who has power but like Huff is past his prime, they think Buster Posey is the C of the future...Sabean has not been torn up too bad-the mangement's got to be willing to spend or his hands are tied..There's no transaction limit in my league but the guy complaining also plays in $ per transaction leagues..

Hoop Social said...

Can we keep this to hoops please.

nitecaps said...

I know they love Posey, they practically ran Molina out of town.
