E Team says:

Talk about the dog days.

The Invaders, who go from two sub-20 guys last match to three this time, are projected to come in around 150. That would be tragic if the P4's, who got a DNP from Bargnani, weren't looking like a good bet to come in even lower.

Even more disturbing is the near certainty that the Nitecaps will snap a three-match slide with a 172 after the McCarthyists get a 14 from Jami and a 7 from Devin.

The E Team's got 25 points worth of Okur insurance and a head-to-head, LeBron vs. Melo, to keep Ticket in the lower division.

And the Shooters are close to a lock against the Schittslinger, who keeps Pau (37) and Brooks (36) on the bench.

Players are looking a little ragged in these last weeks before the All-Star Break. Whose got the thoroughbreds?

Invaders wonder what bad fantasy dream/nightmare he's having getting 13 from Ellis against Nets? It's Kaman vs.Nene and Billups w/41 point lead...

E Team says:

Mark, what do you know about Fadi El Khatib?

E Team said...

E Team says:

Mark, remember, the same thing that killed your Monta - the Nets' utter incompetence - is probably gonna keep Nene and Billups from beating you tomorrow night.

It's a wash.

Ticket says
Two Questions:
Since Invaders cried foul on the phone last night about the Dick-tator flipping the fourth of five schedule cycles upside down, will he mind flipping the order back to the original and concluding sked pattern? Ticket would then miss that Roy-less second meeting in two weeks against Mr. Transaction Daily Dreamer. Still, Mark's right, and so was I when I origginally protested the change. That was labeled "crazy talk" by Mr. Transaction Daily Dreamer.

In a probable LBJ-Melo showdown, E-Team will win Issel-Lee with a center posting 50's every week end in the new decade. The evening updates are welcome league-wide and preclude any need for Ticket posting boxscores.

Would E-Team like to split the commish fee/duties with his superior standings and up to A.M. deadline reporting?

Invaders vaguely remember name-Arab who had tryout around 2004 or so,probably Lebanese(they're taller more mixed blood) since they've traditionally been connected to Greek basketball(Seikaly was half Lebanese and half Greek)as opposed to Turkish league due to Arab/Turk animosity dating from pre WWI control of Arab lands by Ottoman empire-I think Kings brought him to early camp-was a shooter/tweener about 6-7 or 6-8-what brings him up??

Hoop Social said...

Invaders just checked this guy out online-he sounds pretty good-had 10 day contract w/Clippers but never came over to play...he's Lebanese,31 now but sounds like a great playmaker/shooter/leaper but slow at 6-6-his tryout w/Kings was 2003 and they call him 2nd best Asian player after Yao -Ming-better than Yi Jian-Lin?

Eric it's Jazz and Nets and Nuggets at Denver vs.New Orleans tonight...

E Team says:

My bad. Now I can't read the schedule.

It's Okur who gets the short night vs. the Nets.

Melo has a slightly better chance of getting minutes against the Hornets, although they're a shitty road team, they may have lost D.West and they'll probably try to harsh Denver's Melo with a pocket full of Posey.

We'll see if Ticket can mount another dramatic, come-from-behind tie.

E Team says:

Mark, I just ran across El Khatib wasting time online. He's kind of like a giant Jason Kidd, smart and strong but slower. He did make the All-Championship team the year Spain won the Worlds in 2006.
Maybe the Pistons should give him a look before he gets too old. Lots of Arabs there. He'd be popular.

E Team says:

Tom, was Mark expecting you to rat him out for griping about the schedule? He'll know next time not to tell you something in confidence.

Jeez, can we put this schedule thing to rest? Teams play the same identical repeating cycle of seven matches all season long, with the exception of Matches 29 thru 35, which were inverted, creating back-to-backs at 28/29 and 35/36.

No one could have known at the beginning of the season the relative strength of the teams doubling up at 28/29. I am the No. 2 seed and face the sixth-seeded DBS, which should have been a bargain. Problem is, he's ahead of me in the standings with one of the most consistent teams in the league. For Ticket to cry foul about playing the Germans twice suggests that his relatively low seeding at the start of the season somehow doomed him to be where he is now, playing a superior foe. Please. The guy is a two-time champion. He's always telling us he's Mr. Fantasy Basketball. Couldn't he just as easily be in first place and anticipating back-to-backs against a lesser team?

No one should beef about the couplet at 35/36, which pairs each team with the seed next to it. That's a formula for some scintillated matchups down the stretch, and for the most part, it works out. The possible exception is Tom (No. 5) playing Stacy (No. 6), but that's only because the Shooters have been one of the surprises of the season while Ticket has struggled. Still, Tom trails the guy by a game and a half. Is that such a mismatch? Do the math. If the teams played two right now, it would give Ticket a shot at jumping straight into the playoff picture. What more can you ask for as a competitor?

Any advantage or disadvantage created by the flip is dubious and, or course, completely circumstantial. Whatever inferior opponent you think you were deprived of meeting is going to show up on your schedule in the same seven-match rotation no matter who you double up against.

Interestingly, the only possible "strength of schedule" component that could come into play happens during the last five matches, when each team bypasses two opponents determined, naturally, at random. And guess who is one of two teams - along with the Schittslinger - to avoid both the P4's and the Nitecaps in that final stretch? Yes, Ticket.

C'mon people. What kind of girlyman hopes to succeed by matching up with weak opponents anyway? This is the NCBL, the No CryBabies League. Quit playing lawyer ball and man up.

Sheesh.

Jeez, listening to this garbage errr interesting banter makes me wonder...how is it that team C can make the claim that he doesn't have time to research free agents?
Just a thought.
Keep up the good work.

Just invaders luck Nuggets are going to overtime!!And Invaders have now lost West and Ellis to yet more injuries..add Arenas/Granger/Martin and Williams (briefly)-Has anybody ever lost this much talent? As for complaining about schedule w/Tom last night the question was 1)is it another mistake?(posting) and 2)if it was purposeful like snake around picks w/draft then it should've happened earlier in the season and then repeated, who it helps/hurts now isn't really the issue...

E Team says:

Dave, here's some slang you can understand; I borrowed it from my preteen daughter...

O. M. G.

The E Team holds on as Jerry Sloan lets Mehmet Okur hoist up three-pointers with a 35-point lead and Melo sits down with a minute left in Denver's overtime win, defeating Ticket in the barnburner of the year.

E Team 239, Ticket 237

Un - freakin' - believable.

Hoop Social said...

Invaders hold on to to win lowest scoring game of the year 146-137(sounds like an old Denver score under Westhead)behind 27 from Chris Kaman..

nitecaps said...

Thanks for dummying it down for me C!

Great match.

They all count the same Mark.

Okur gave Ticket 35, not 40 needed to beat E-Team in a barn burner

Baseball bullshit welcome. Like E-Team needs to brush up on listening to Spanish speakers, I need baseball talk for my eventual move to NYC in my dream life of living in P-town only for hoops season.

This fantasy league drafter of My Ding Oden would take Thabeet or Diop for the Nene wannabe Oden. I never believed in Nene and I was wrong. So odds are I'll be right about Oden in the long run.

What Outlaw lacks in Batum's sturdiness on D and Webster's shooting fundamentals, he more than compensates in Rodman-esque dynamism during last winter's 17 win streak. No Od-or-en back then proved TO's a glue guy.

Kersey comparison's ridiculous. Jerome was part of the best fast break squad in franchise history. McMillan was beaten repeatedly by them and has forgotten the method of play. Hence his predictable iso's in the last minute with the game on the line, whether it's Roy, Miller, or Byron Scott's Jannero "Starks" the year before last when the Hornets scared the Spurs into game seven's waning moments. You can't make a dead horse run the fast break, right Y oh Y only play D at the Y E-Team?

Actually E-Team will resort to the turn around baby jumper I so admired in Willis Reed. And he's willing to play on gimpy knee like Reed. In contrast I'm no Iverson on my probably arthritic knee, according to Dr. Davis, who's no Walter "Greyhound" Davis, my favorite of forgotten eighties stars.
