Final Germans defeat the ETeam 203-170 P4(Irving-32...Harden-42...Durant-48...Bosh-45...Ibaka-21...George-15)E(Howard-40...Pierce-31...Kemba-33...Deng-23...Vasquez-28...PP-15)
Well, well. The E Team, playing non-championship ball in pursuit of a non-championship, make two bad moves and needed them both to lose to the Germans.
First Deng (23) instead of Ellis (46), then the clincher, PatPat (15) for Scola (33).
Perfectly executed. Like a suicide without the squeeze. Sorry, Dave. And you're welcome, Tom.
partial scores-another strong showing for Ticket w/223 Nitecaps have only 106+Melo who as great as he is won't score 118....B's 182 Wingos 110 w/2nd chances for DWIll and Danilo tomorrow....Swat 179 and hoping Parker plays tomorrow Invaders 118 needing 62 from Vucevic and JR Smith
Sean Invaders need to remind you that we only look forward for 2nd chances not backward...was your reference to that 43 serious?-we talked about looking backward but the rule that was adopted was one 2nd chance within the same match period looking forward to the next game-A few of the people who supported 2nd chances(Tom and Dave) didn't support looking beyond one game in the same match period for 2nd chance points-I suggested looking backward at one point as a compromise but originally proposed(after Tom) and always really preferred the looking forward approach to insure no one would start a guy he knew was injured knowing he could rely on his last game's stats if they were good ...
In addition, if the subject of your fantasies plays a third game only in a match period, that action will not be permitted. There's a law against this slovenly pursuit of gains. As a proponent of my LA play maker getting a third try-what's good for Britney is good for CP3 in SoCal- I've been denied further expansion of the second chance rule. We can't have someone who plays a stiff just once in a match period who produces a DNP lose to someone who has a DNP waived because of a third chance by the player who sat out that first game in the match. It's OK for this unfairness with the new second chance rule.
In other words, I disagree with the third try not being allowed.
The only ruling we made on the third chance rule was that we hadn't made a ruling on it. We can still put it to a vote and probably should. I personally think it sucks ass, but that's just one vote.
I feel as though the essence of the rule, and the reason we finally implemented it this year, was to give a second chance for a random DNP Coach's decision or an injury not being reported/discovered until after 4pm line-up deadline. Not to reward mangers that draft players with history of DNP's, play for coaches the like or take risks with players with small injuries going into the match. (In a two day conference and the subject is boring, fantasy BBall much more interesting) P4
Final Sean had nothing to worry about as Parker plays and Swat destroys the Invaders 216-160 Swat(Parker-37...Lawson-42...LBJ-50...AJeff-35...MGas-39...Batum-13)Invaders(Lamarcus-35...Vukevic-17...Clark-19...Westbrook-30...JR-25...Teague-34)

I agree with the essence of they rule and think it should only be the twoti e chance! Only was confused as to where the early/late call came in, per the rule I originally proposed, early call was the standard, must have had a toghttime keeping up with the final deposition.
Dave-those draft pick trades were a nightmare pf vetos last year-Invaders think we should only allow draft pick trades before the draft this year rather than at the trade deadline but I doubt Yahoo is set up to turn that draft trade option on/off like that
Hey Dave and Mark, Are you guys hoping that the rest of us will get so excited hearing about your trade-friendly leagues that we'll look to emulate them?
I can't wait for that discussion to get underway.
Tell me though, how exactly does it work? Tell me if this could happen, for example: Our Germans are sitting on three high-quality point guards. Could they make a trade with a team facing one of their rivals in an important match, looking to improve in the standings, then reacquire the player later, perhaps by agreement with the trade partner?
Does there have to be any sort of equivalency between traded players? (Only players drafted in the same round, for instance) And do all league members have to approve trades?
Eric Invaders have seen many trades in ESPN and Yahoo vetoed by a required minimum of 4 league members if they're deemed unfair-But they surely would be vetoed in such a "boomerang" trade scenario-where that happens most is in football during bye weeks-we kicked guys out of one league In NY for doing that repeatedly. As Dave will no doubt tell you I'm the king of making the 3 or 4 prospects/middle level players traded for 1 superstar deal- but it should be pointed out that Dave and I also play in numerous keeper leagues where 1 or 2 or in one league 3 players can be retained forever but they must have been acquired as low draft picks(round agreed on by vote) or free agent pick ups-so therefore you have to figure keeper eligibility into the evaluation of player trades for those not making the playoffs -and that was what Dave was referring to in Yahoo baseball.Without future draft picks trades though aren't as much of a problem as the draft pick trades which I don't really like-but I've never seen somebody make a deal just to help the opponent of a rival for one game as you describe.
Also I'd add that I'm not trying to push trading in this league but it certainly spices up the leagues-without the keeper aspect the appeal of trades isn't as strong..
Agreed. The validity of all trades are left to the members of the league to deem it fair. That being said, most people do not view "fair" trades the same way. I have gone so far as to post an open plea to league members not to respond to trade proposals from Mark.
I'm not leveraging for it either, although I would say that this is an ideal format for it. I would be willing to bet that not a trade would be pushed through in this league built on paranoia.

Ticket says In the beginning there was vague enforcement of late lineup entries. That was coupled with no knowledge of opponent lineup in the pre-blog days. There have always been MIAs who determined the outcome of playoff races. My addiction to minute by minute scorekeeper watch distracted me from accurate reporting of results. I tried cyber-broadcasting with scoring and I got kicked around for many mistakes. Big Panty enjoyed my humiliation most. That fueled the fire for more trash talk by the most disagreeable player in North East Portland Y hoops history, arguably beside myself, who responded negatively to my scorekeeping. The tanking of a match by yours truly for a more favorable first round match endeared me even more to the fantasy league leader in disputes. Same guy still dusts his better half's ass for fingerprints. Lastly the second/third chance rule has lead to his surprising recent confession that he hates this game.
Those are the facts.
So where in the world do you get this idea that anyone in this fantasy league is paranoid...er...stoned?
Dave, to paraphrase Colonel Jessup, my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. Deep down, in places you don't talk about at cocktail parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
Some people use words like rules, order, administration. You use it as a punchline. ¶ “I’m a songwriter — like you,” Mr. Morton replied, with full Brooklyn braggadocio.

¶ “Hit songs.”
¶ “Why don’t you bring me one?” Mr. Barry said, with audible skepticism.
¶ Mr. Morton phoned a friend who had a basement recording studio. He phoned another friend, who had a four-piece band. He phoned a third, who knew some high school girls from Queens who sang locally as the Shangri-Las.
¶ With these elements in place, Mr. Morton, on his way to the recording session, realized he lacked one thing: a song. Pulling his car over on a stretch of Long Island road, he wrote “Remember (Walking In The Sand).”
¶ Mr. Morton’s marriage to Lois Berman ended in divorce. His survivors include three daughters, Stacey Morton, Danielle Morton and Keli Morton Gerrits; a sister, Geraldine; and three grandchildren.

Invaders believe Colonel Bartels has just threatened to order a "code red" on enlisted man Koeppel who's been occupied w/the history of pop music originating w/Brooklyn girl groups... perhaps because "he can't handle the truth"??
Invaders researched Morton and see that besides recreating 4 Jewish girls from Queens as the Shang-ra- las he produced Vanilla Fudge's "You Just Keep Me Hanging On"Janis Ian's "Society's Child" and was supposed to produce Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gadda da Vida"but got too fucked up as did the band so their 17 minute sound check and jam version was put on the album with slurred lyrics which sold 20 million copies-Morton never got credit for his contribution which he termed "minimal"
Invaders have seen Less Than Zero at least 15 times-it reminds me of all the drug addict rich kids I grew up with in Piedmont including current Raider owner Mark Davis-Downey became a star after that movie and as it turned out was so great because he was playing himself!
Mark, your additional info to 14 year old Janis Ian's & Shangrilas' hit song writer Shadow Morton were not in his NY Times obit. Iron Butterfly connection is linked by Eric to his enthusiasm for Slayer's version of IB's hit song.
Since we're conversant along this line of stream of consciousness, I wondered if you agree with this sympathy I've had since my teens. The ABA was the source of the best small forwards of all-time. On basketballreference.com combined career scoring stats from both leagues makes Rick Barry and Dr. J farther from LBJ's reach.
Since them only Neek appears in the all-time scorer's stratosphere. I believe in Durant but he has more wear and tear ahead of him than he would have had had Harden remained a team mate. Not Bird, not Worthy, not Pippen, not Grant Hill. (Did I leave a greatest non power forward out, ie Elgin Baylort?)
I believe Hondo was a guard but the three guard Celtic offense (Hondo & the "Jones Boys" then with Don Chaney and Jojo White) I did not check. There's are 3-man & 4-man splits on basketball reference.com that determines who plays together most minutes wise. It peaks my curiousity. Are there other greatest position players masked as what they are not besides Hondo the forward? If Mr. Phelps you respond to this inquiry with more revelations, this inquirer may self destruct.
For instance, I presume LBJ is as much a 4 as he is a 3 with either Haslem or Bosh sitting more often than not when LBJ plays. Similar vague-ness regarding position surrounds Magic & the Big O, truly the only all-purpose players LBJ should be compared with. LBJ fails to conjure the play maker role the other two represent, despite his assist count. Do you believe LBJ makes his team better or just carries his team ala Jordan to the title?
Magic's not on the all-time scorer's top performer list. He's left out of the conversation like Ty Cobb is too often in baseball's best comparisons. Power and productivity mistakenly linked to homers and points. But its easier to converse about points and homers than per minute hoop stats or OBP+Slug Pct.
An aside: When walking around the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens there's a walk of fame like in Hollywood for Brooklyn's finest. (Janis Ian's there, thanks to the disappearing act Shadow Morton).
I wanted most to see BBG's floor plaques for hoop stars. There's Lenny Wilkens & Connie Hawkins. Wilkens may suffer the same way Magic's legacy is shadowed by performing as a facilitator instead of a go to guy. Hawkins fruit picking rebounds one handed has to go down in fans minds as unique as a pre-injured Bill Walton's release of passes before landing with rebounds. (Ty Chan volley ball serves behind his back breaking Knicks by punching rebounds, a dubious practice in my book). What other rebounders create an image of their own?
Ticket says Basketball Reference.com lists Kevin Durant also as Durantula like that's his real tarantula named name.
The list of every combination of five men in an OKC lineup in '12-'13 shows KD plays small forward with two other bigs (Ibaka,Perkins,Collison,Thabeet) 87% of the time.
LBJ? 21% of the time he plays with two other bigs (Bosh,Haslem,Anthony).
Since we're disputing whether or not this league should have trades, perhaps we should discuss a mid-term evaluation of position for lineup designations.
Tom Invaders ask can you name the 11 members of the hall of fame who played in the ABA??Hint Wilt only coached never played....I don't agree those 70's ABA small forwards were the best I think you have to remember if you just use scoring to rate them ABA games were very high scoring...another question who hold the single game scoring record in the ABA??
Ticket says Online I looked up a few: The new guys Indiana Pacers Roger Brown and Mel Daniels. The Kentucky Colonel (Coach?) Hubie Brown The St. Louis Spirit Moses Malone The NY Net Rick Barry all-time ABA game hi? The NY Net / Virginia Squire Dr. J The Kentucky Colonels Artis Gilmore,Louis Dampier The Carolina Cougar Billy Cunningham? The Denver Rocket Dan Issel? The Utah Star Zelmo Beatty?
Tom-Invaders say Brown coached so he doesn't count but you correctly named Issel/Daniels/Erving/Gilmore/Barry/Malone and Cunningham-Zelmo Beatty and Dampier are not in and I'm not aware that Roger Brown is either-the others are Gervin/Connie Hawkins/David Thompson and the toughest one to get former St.louis Hawk teammate of Zelmo's Cliff Hagan who was player coach of the Dallas Chaparrals who became the Spurs

Top 4 teams advance to the playoffs
The top 2 seeds hold a 1 game advantage in a best of 3 series
$5 awarded for each match high score
I think there is $100 awarded to regular season winner and maybe the leading scorer.
After that?...all formulas are held under lock and key at the Bartels Estate.

Basketball Reference.com lists Kevin Durant also as Durantula like that's his real tarantula named name.

My Josh Smith plays 10% of the time with two bigs (Horford,Zaza,Ivar Johnson).

Online I looked up a few: The new guys Indiana Pacers Roger Brown and Mel Daniels.
The Kentucky Colonel (Coach?) Hubie Brown
The St. Louis Spirit Moses Malone
The NY Net Rick Barry all-time ABA game hi?
The NY Net / Virginia Squire Dr. J
The Kentucky Colonels Artis Gilmore,Louis Dampier
The Carolina Cougar Billy Cunningham?
