Tom, I looked into a flight to Vegas during your visit, but it was a little rich for my blood. On the other hand, your Nets are at home against my NY native Kemba Walker on Friday, Dec. 28. Maybe we should hit that.

Hey, what is the deal with two teams hogging all the MHS money after nine matches? Talk about a concentration of wealth. It's like Carnegie and Vanderbilt slugging it out during the Gilded Age.

But wait, look at the seeds of a new Progressive Era, with the upwardly mobile Jew Ticket struggling to rise up from poverty in his East Side tenement (okay, it's in Prospect Park). Not to mention the coal-stained Welsh Wingo and the league's fastest climber, the former Italian peasant Besso MeMucho.

Here's to the fantasy melting pot!

E Team invites Swat to melee with the following:

DHow, KLove, Monta, Rondo, Deng, Duncan

Invaders checked and your latin guard Eric isn't a combo he's a 1 only-I needed a 2 but didn't need a 1 so I passed on him-NO has tried a variety of unappealing options at 2 w/out Gordon including the starting 3 Aminu but Vasquez has been starting at 1 all season and would've had Gordon been healthy-I probably should of taken Reddick but I've had problems at 4/5 now as well so I went w/Patterson-also Tom your Jordan Crawford is a 2 only not a 1/2-- these positions are according to ESPN so it's the official arbiter as we agreed before the season...sorry I wasn't around to tell you during the draft

Invaders will play Pau/LaMarcus/Thaddeus/JoeJ/Westbrook and Lowry

Ticket will pick up a couple of cheap seats ahead of time for 12/28, unless Errol's joining us, then it will be a trifecta.

Wow, the commissioner is ruling with an iron fist, as if coming down from Mt. Oakland with a stone tablet under his arm.

Yo permanesco con mi Venezolano como sea. (I'll stay with my Venezuelan no matter what.)

And no response to my musings on the parallels between current fantasy developments and post-Civil War America?! I guess I'll have to wait for the very erudite Wingo to weigh in. Humbug.

4-West

Eric-I must have missed the post civil war analogy-I'd like to see that it was one of my 3 topics for my written/oral exams for a masters in 19th century history-The weather has cleared on Mt.Oakland a brief respite more Portland like weather is on the way-Invaders believe in the "iron fist" school of commish(not really but it makes for interesting blogging)since Yahoo has such liberal views on positions I believe we are better served with ESPN as the judge and jury

The purportedly erudite Wingos have a short history in America, their blood arriving on these shores in 1950 as WWII refugees - mother a kinder-escapee from Czechoslovakia and closeted Jew, father a Eurasian from Hong Kong via POW in Japan, both via post-war London. They came to build a better life for little Hawthorne!

I've shared a beer at the Moon and Sixpence with an English professor from Wales who says that some of the most common surnames in America, including Davis and, wait for it, Williams, are Welsh.

I just took a chance that Matthews might be on that list as well. Plus it worked well in my narrative.
