Eric as far as Invader reference to Tea party it's only when you compared relief for DNPs to welfare and food stamps in the attempt to make the analogy of those that play badly with those that don't play at all that I thought it was appropriate-The proper entitlement program would seem to be "disability" insurance for those that can't work differentiated from out right charity-Mr.B will have to expand on his communism allegory-but this 2nd chance idea is not what you characterize it as being -it's not some shit thrown at something by desperate people-it was proposed by 2 of the longest tenured members of this league Sean and Tom-it's the cleanest and fairest way to deal with it because it's the same guy you were playing anyway-the fact it wouldn't of mattered this match isn't the point-the limit of playing only in the match period is unavoidable to retain the 2 match per week schedule-I believe it's a superior solution than creating pct. formulas or substituting alternate player scores-I think we could get a majority vote for it right now....

C'mon ETeam-this is all just bantering about fantasy hoop. In reviewing the posts it seems like there are several players unhappy about the set up and asking for some kind of evolution. You (purposefully or not) have become the figurehead of a seemingly one party government. So, now you're getting the brunt of this.
None of the attacks on your were personal, they were on the "government". Which happens when the people are pushed to rise up.
So, are we a democracy or not? Either way, I'll adapt. I just need to understand where I'm livin'.
After reading Dave's last post it appears he doesn't support the second chance formula due to scheduling?Sean's version solves that because he looks backward for a score so everyone would have one-I'm against that because it encourages people to play a guy they know is iffy they're bailed out by the previous numbers-since the future is unknown then I think forward scoring is better-the scheduling issue can't be helped but perhaps people will look at the schedule before risking the use of a potential "game time decision" players-I think that's part of taking personal responsibility for your lineup you'd need to think 2 games ahead-I will never support any formula that results in modification of real stats be it 50% /minus 10/ 10% of team total-This is the aspect of the Eric/German proposal that I can never support-if you do that I lose all interest in this game as I said why don't we forget all the prior rules and DNPs just take our entire rosters and divide by 15 for each match score?Exciting?using math formulas it's the same type of deal as I see it-let's keep reality as the basis for our collective fantasy
After watching 49er win Invaders would like to add that I can vote for a 6 man w/alternate proposal provided there's no pct or penalty but I prefer the 2nd chance idea and I think rather than criticizing it because of the "random" aspect of scheduling each match period we should instead insist that the individual team owner must be accountable for at least looking at the schedule to see if he'll have 2 games in each match period for players he wishes to risk using.I don't think that's asking too much if your confident your guy is healthy then start him if not check the schedule.That's a big part of what the whole argument's about not bailing out inattentive owners right?Nobody is the "one to sort it out"this way you as owner take responsibility for checking the schedule or you take your chances-As much as I understand intellectually why Eric and P4 are insisting on the pct and partial scoring of the alternates I'm vehemently against any dilution of real stats

In fact, you seem to have forgotten that I've forwarded two different proposals during this discussion, one of which, the 10% Solution, had as many as four supporters at one point.
And here's what's funny. Amid all the accusations of dictatorial behavior on my part - which is kind of comical considering I have only one vote, just like everybody else - there is one league member who has flatly declared that any solution involving a discounted or averaged score is not to be considered, a sentiment I'm not sure the rest of the league shares.
If you're having trouble remembering who that is, just look at the above post.
And now, you yourself have expressed support for the Germans' proposal involving a designated sub with a discounted score, which produces a result very similar to the 10% idea.
It seems to me that the next conversation that needs to take place is between you and your boy Mark.

Eric Invaders indeed said I'd never support such a pct. solution but I never said anybody's ideas weren't to be considered unless you think my trying to stimulate discussion to find the most popular ideas for a vote was part of a hidden agenda- This dictator thing is something going on with some past perceptions some members have with you that I'm not involved with here-I sincerely doubt there's anybody on this blog that feels this way about me-if I'm commish then I should facilitate a solution for the league by getting everybody's ideas and having a vote-If Dave votes for your idea that's up to him we think for ourselves and I won't vote for that particular proposal-I also even when critical have never denigrated other proposals by labeling them half baked crap or shit other than in one post in which I did label your searching rosters for lowest positional scores "plumbing the utter depths of banality" and said "I'm not a sanitation worker"which I thought were a funny lines and a much friendlier way of saying it.When there's a vote if what you and the Germans propose get popular support then it is what it is and I'd have to go along with it-if you've got the votes then that's the way it should be-I genuinely have very strong feelings against tampering with actual stats it ceases to replicate the NBA which is what this is about for me and always has been-I was never really affected that much by DNPs but I see that others have been so I'd like to see the issue resolved in some way-let's just get this down to the two most popular ideas and vote

Nate Robinson Bulls – Kirk Hinrich left Saturday’s game with an elbow injury and it’s too early to know about his status for the week. But if he’s going to miss time, Robinson is a must-add in all formats. We’ve been touting him as a solid guy to hold onto in fantasy leagues, even when Hinrich is healthy, but he would put up big numbers as a starter. He had 14 points, six boards, eight assists and two 3-pointers in relief of Hinrich on Saturday.
Rodney Stuckey Pistons – Stuckey has hit double figures in scoring in three straight games, including a season-high of 24 points with seven assists on Friday. Over his last five games he’s averaging 13.5 points, seven assists and a steal per game. It looks like he’s finally ready to start performing for the Pistons after a slow start to the season.
Jeremy Pargo Cavaliers – Pargo has been dumped in a lot of leagues, and for good reason, but came out of nowhere on Saturday with 24 points, four assists and two 3-pointers, which could very well end up being his best game of the season. Kyrie Irving is nearing his return, but Pargo should have about another week left in his window of opportunity, and has the potential to put up decent numbers in four games.
Jason Kidd Knicks – Kidd was dropped during a stint on the shelf with a back injury and hasn’t really set the world on fire since his return. But he was playing very well before going down and is back in the Knicks’ starting five. And as long as he stays there, he should be a solid source of 3-pointers, steals, assists and rebounds, with the occasional 10-point game.
Randy Foye Jazz – Foye had a disastrous three-point game on Wednesday, but has scored 20, 19 and 12 points in the other three games out of his last four, hitting 11 3-pointers over that stretch. He’s not going to help in a lot of other categories, but looks like he has solid value in points-based scoring systems as long as he continues to start and get nearly 30 minutes per game.
Shooting Guards
Jordan Crawford/Bradley Beal Wizards – Crawford has exploded on the scene since Trevor Ariza went down with a calf injury, and got a bigger boost when A.J. Price broke his hand on Saturday. Shaun Livingston will see a deep-league boost with this news, but Crawford and Beal are the two guys to pick up. Crawford should have already been owned after scoring 22, 14, 22, 17, 19 and 19 points over his last six games, while also piling up 3-pointers, steals and assists. But he is still only owned in 31 percent of ESPN leagues. Beal, who is only owned in eight percent of ESPN leagues, has now hit double figures in six of his last seven games, including a total of 35 points over his last two. And with Price gone and Wall still not showing any signs of a quick return, both players should be very nice additions to your team.
Marco Belinelli Bulls – Belinelli got off to a poor start while filling in for Rip Hamilton, who could miss an entire month with his foot injury, but caught fire recently, scoring 22, 16 and 23 points over his last three games with eight 3-pointers. He’s hit 21-of-43 shots over that stretch and while he could go cold at any minute, he is going to be owned in a lot more than 0.3 percent of ESPN leagues if he has one more big line.
Gerald Henderson Bobcats – Henderson still isn’t starting for the Cats, but could be soon. Even off the bench, he’s scored 13, 19 and 18 points over his last three games and has hit four 3-pointers during that stretch. He also has a couple blocks, a couple steals and 11 rebounds in those three games, and is only owned in 15 percent of ESPN leagues. His return has hurt Ramon Sessions’ value and I’d rather own Henderson at this point.
Vince Carter Mavericks – Carter has scored in double figures in eight of his last nine games, and is averaging five rebounds, a steal and has hit nine 3-pointers over his last four. He’s a bit of an injury risk, but is getting it done in his 24 minutes a night in December.
Small Forwards
Tayshaun Prince Pistons – Prince has quietly scored in double digits in eight straight games and had eight rebounds on Saturday. He doesn’t steal the ball, but is shooting it well from both the field and line, and has hit four 3-pointers over his last five games. He’s not a must-own player, but won’t hurt your fantasy team anywhere.
Carlos Delfino Rockets – Delfino is over his groin injury and has the Rockets’ best +/- rating. He’s scored 10, 9, 15 and 13 points over his four games since returning from his injury, and has knocked down 11 triples over that stretch. He’s also rebounding and handing out assists, and while Chandler Parsons will continue to hold him back, “Delthree-no” is a nice option if your team needs 3-pointers.
Corey Brewer Nuggets – With Wilson Chandler out with his hip injury, Brewer has gotten a nice opportunity off the bench, and has scored 20, 19 and 19 points in his last three games. He’s hit four three-pointers over that stretch and is also averaging four boards and two steals in those three games. I have no idea how long he’ll keep it going, but he could be a sneaky four-game play this week.
Mickael Pietrus Raptors – Pietrus burst on the scene with 21 points, six boards, a steal and two 3-pointrs on Wednesday, and then had 13 points, four boards, three blocks and four 3-pointerrs on Friday night. He’s starting for the Raptors and as long as that’s the case, he should keep playing well while getting 30-plus minutes per game.
Ersan Ilyasova/Marquis Daniels Bucks – Ilyasova continues to be the international man of mystery in fantasy hoops, as you never know what you’re going to get. He has scored 21 (with 12 rebounds), 17 and 15 points in three of his last four games, but had just two points in the other one. He also had a DNP-CD just before that, which was preceded by a zero-point performance on Nov. 28. But he’s starting to come on again for the Bucks, and if he gets minutes and gains some confidence, he could be on the verge of an explosion (which I've probably said for five straight weeks now). Daniels has been starting and scored 18 and 12 points in his last two games, but I’d still rather take a flier on Ilyasova and hope for the best.

I'm trying clarify, simplify and come to a conclusion. I simply feel as if you want to find fault in all of the solutions. Well, they all have faults, none are perfect.

Invaders have another idea to modify the 2nd chance proposal... I don't like it as much but here goes-if the only thing preventing Dave from being the deciding vote is the scheduling issue of fairness then we could meld the ideas of Tom and Swat together-For example if a DNPer doesn't have a game in the next 2 or 3 days of the match period we would only then look backwards for the last point total-I would insist that forward looking for points would come first and then we'd look backward only if needed.A little extra work for me but that's ok-again I don't like this as much as the forward or tough luck concept but I'd rather do it that way then have any fractional stats-this would satisfy me and satisfy Dave and/or others concerns about fairness of the scheduling in dealing with DNPs and would involve Sean's concept to some degree which I think he would support as well-comments??
Invaders certainly hope Wingos Maginot line holds up better this time than it did historically-whether it's Franco/Prussian war that led to the creation of Germany(and Marx's version of Communism by the way)or the first 2 World Wars(are we in the beginnings of a third one now? or more likely it's the Crusades again)French track record against Germans is not too good...former heroes like Petain become collaborators and traitors to the cause abound Wingos need to resist the Vichy govt.
To expand on Invaders idea for 2nd chance w/no schedule issue you couldn't look backward farther than the last game the player's team played in.If he didn't play for his real team in the last game of the prior match period then you get a DNP.That rule would be needed or else someone could in theory put an injured guy out there all season who had a great last game.
p4 says it likes a 7th man for DNP only though the teams score gets a 10 point reduction as a DNP penalty.
That or no change is our vote.
